Woody will have a pleasant surprise when he gets home:

LOST Season 4 on Blu-Ray has arrived.

Will that boy ever catch up?    :)

Not if he falls asleep half way through the show like last night!

der Brucer

I assume you recorded it, but if you didn't, ABC is rebroadcasting it on Saturday night.

And the Blu-rays of Season 4 look and sound spectacular.

And next Tuesday, Goodbye Mr. Chips finally arrives on DeeVeeDee!     :)

And THE YELLOW ROLLS ROYCE

And FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD

And WATERLOO BRIDGE (1940).

A great week for some MGM classics.

A gorgeous day out, and I waited on the porch for my ride to lunch  just to enjoy the fresh air. It was a tiny bit chilly but worth it for the beautiful day.

I spent what was left of the afternoon with THE INVADERS (a Quinn Martin Production!) I only got 2 1/4 episodes watched (those 60s series were much longer than today's shows, more than 50 minutes per hour broadcast whereas today's are more like 43 minutes.)

Some good guest stars so far. The season premiere had Antoinette Bower as an alien (she was a alien on a STAR TREK episode around the same time).

The second episode featured Anne Francis, Charles Drake, and Dabney Coleman.

The one I'm in the middle of now has Kevin McCarthy and Shirley Knight.

I skimmed through AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest and nothing in the previews.

During the 9 p.m. hour tojnight, I have four shows with new episodes: BONES, GREY'S ANATOMY, THE OFFICE/30 ROCK, and SUPERNATURAL. Argh! (If I still watched CSI, it would be FIVE!)

I don't know why people are surprised at the lack of nominations for The Dark Knight - the Academy has a long history of shunning that type of blockbuster - nor did it deserve a director or screenplay nomination, at least in my opinion (IMO, in Internet lingo).

I am happy it was not nominated, in that I was not looking forward to watching it...and I wanted to see all of the "best picture" nominations, at least.

Such a funny reason :)  I'm happy because I don't believe it deserved the nomination.  I haven't seen most of the nominated films to know if I consider them all more worthy of a nomination.

We walked over to Circle K to get a newspaper, and three helicopters were circling about a half mile away. I wonder what was going on.

Perhaps the rain is coming, after all!    :D

It is the mentality of the local news here to have three helicopters hovering for hours to see if there is any rain!  With Live team Coverage!

I did - and I hope so; they cost $50

der Brucer

One thing I have noticed with the Blu-Ray - when I move closer to the screen the image gets sharper, unlike the regular TV that would get blurry. (And I'm only 720 - but I suspect 720 on a 26" is sharpere than 1080 on a 52").

I still do, but fortunately COMCAST has it On Demand - so I can delay watching it.

Finally an article in the local newspaper website. The local middle school was in lockdown, which is where the helicopters were when we were walking. Then they moved north a bit. Now it is quiet. The abduction was actually about 9 a.m. Now it is 2:42 p.m.

Nothing in the local news website about it, but there is a new tumbleweed sculpture installed in town.

I wonder if that was to protect a particular child or all of them.  I hope there is a happy outcome to this story, there so rarely is.

Well, I'm going to do some writing and then head back down to watch David Vincent seek out and combat THE INVADERS.

The abducted child is an infant, but the school was locked down because the abduction occurred near there (but a couple hours earlier).

I was concerned of the slight possibility he would go to the school to abduct another family member.

He's 23. But I guess they were afraid he might run through the school. Stuff like that has happened.

How about an article on the Ashland parents who endanger public health by refusing to innoculate their own children against measles, etc.

I honestly understand the hesitancy to inoculate.  If you read the rising numbers of autistic children & the articles connecting them to vaccinations (not saying there really is a connection) the parents are understandably scared.  What the parents don't have is an honest fear of some of the diseases vaccinations prevent.

Istanbul was Constantinople,
Now it's istanbul, not Constantinople,
Been a long time gone, Constantinople,
Now it's turkish delight on a moonlit night...
