Hey i just wanted to say a big thank you for all the vibes for my sister and her baby.

She went for another ultrasound today and the numbers they were concerned about were very positive. Then when she got home they called with the results from the amnio. And it was good news. Everything seems fine.

GREAT NEWS!

In other news...

I played for some wonderful people today. Good singers. Good auditions.

I did self-fluster myself twice during the course of the session. The first time was when I realized that the piece of music that was placed in front of me happened to be written by someone sitting "behind the table". I kept deciding between playing every single note and rhythm on the page, or playing what I knew I could play and what would most support the singer. Thankfully, not a trainwreck, but not "comfy".

The second self-flustering came about after I had said, "Yes, I can read it up a step." -Before I had looked at the music, or even asked what she was singing. It turned out to be a Maltby & Shire song. Spoo! Again, no trainwreck, just not "comfy".

~~~~~SAFE TRAIN TRAVEL VIBES TO DR FJL~~~~~
*I think the latest forecast indicated that the snow "storm" in the NYC area would not roll in until midnight. -But that it would last until the next midnight, changing over to sleet and freezing rain during that time period. We shall see.
Jennifer I've been reading about the Ott light.  Unless I'm missing something I don't think it would help me since I can't find one to clip onto a book.
...And after getting my hair cut, I stopped into Madeleine Patisserie for my first two macarons of 2009: Raspberry, and Ginger with Chocolate filling. Sooooo good as always.
And now I'm camped out in Starbucks for a bit. -Where I'm drinking a London Fog Tea Latte - which is their fancy way of labeling Earl Grey tea with milk. ;)
*But I did end up getting my tea latte for free since it seems the promo codes are still programmed wrong in the registers/computers. :)
In the need to know useless information basket:
I've just received a three Cd set from the UK "This Record Is Not To Be Broadcast".
75 records banned by the BBC 1931 - 1957
Tracks include:
Paper Doll - the Mills Brothers
Till the End Of Time - Perry Como
Minnie The moocher - Cab Calloway
Mack The Knife - Louis Armstrong
Bewitched - Ella Fitzgerald
How Little We Know - Frank sinatra
John & Marsha - Stan Freeberg
The Sky - Petula Clark
Stranger In Paradise - The Four Aces
It's no Secret - Jo Stafford
Such A Night - Johnnie Ray
Rum & Coca Cola  - The Andrews Sisters
Deep In The Heart Of Texas - Bing Crosby
I love this sort of stuff.  The notes with the set are of course quite informative.
DR Rodzinski would have loved this.
Well... I sort of looked at it for a split second... And since I noticed she had written the chords in... And since I knew the song ("Miss Byrd")... And since she wasn't singing the whole thing... And since Mr. HotShot composer was at the table... And since well-respected Broadway musical director was behind the table... And the Tony-winning Book Writer... And the Tony-nominated...
Well...
And...
;)
On TCM - Ann Sothern killed her sister and her brother-in-law Zachary Scott was knocked out and owned the gun, he couldn't remember anything - so he took the rap...and is headed for the chair.
However Zachary's daughter Gigi Perreau saw the whole thing - but she blocked it out - however child psychologist Nancy Davis Reagan is on the case and it looks bad.....for Ann Sothern.
All of our snow has been what I believe is called "powder."  Very light, fluffyish stuff, full of enchantment.
I really do wish it had arrived a month (and two days) ago, when it would have been appropriate.
Better late than never, I suppose.
With at least one "The part is now being played by..." announcement thrown in for good measure. Contracts, ya' know.
I'm so glad this is all falling into place on TCM.  I hate to think what would happen with this story if it was being reported by Fox News.
Good news indeed DR Jennifer and thank you for the thoughts coming this way too.  I have to drive in 40 degree + heat tomorrow (about 40 minute drive) to have my tooth pulled or whatever.
It will be a great day.  We are expecting a price hike on petrol again - about 12 c a litre more - next week.
I'm full of joy this week.
Just noticed that the old song from George Hamilton IV "A Rose And a Babe Ruth" was banned - even when they released it in the UK as a "A Rose And a Candy Bar".
"Deep In The Heart of Texas"
"This melody was so infectious that the BBC banned it from broadcasts during working hours. It was to prevent factory hands from using their tools for banging the machinery to keep time with the music"
