Good morning!  Thanks to one and all for the broken legs last evening.  We had a relatively smooth preview last evening for an audience of about twenty five people.  Considering the small number of audience members, I was very suprised by the large number of laughs we received.   It was also the first time I can remember getting a standing ovation from a preview audience; although in all honesty, I believe the standing "O" was more for our leading lady's tour de force than for the entire cast.

Congrats on the good preview, DR TCB!

I'm saving my "Break a Leg" for your opening night--is that tonight?

I had read that as "when the cast asked for breakfast at around 4:00, I figured I might as well stay up" - it took me aback for a moment.

We are a very close group.

For what it's worth (nothing):

I think "Slumdog Millionaire" sounds like a Disney movie.

If it were a Disney movie, the title would probably be THE HAPPIEST SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

Good morning, all!  Oy! Did I have weird dreams last night: an endless dream about putting away Christmas things and shipping Christmas gifts and others that get truly surreal. God knows where some of them come from although I think I know the source of the holiday dreams: I still have two (maybe three) Christmas gifts I haven't delivered yet.

And, dammit!, I forgot BURN NOTICE last night. Again! I'll try to catch it over the weekend.

Today, I have to run back down to Toyland this morning. Someone, possibly me, has misplaced the penultimate proof of "The March of the Toys" and I need it. I also need to return to the office some scores I should have left there and to pick up the copies of the oriiginal scores I forgot. I also need to call in the prescription refills for my meds.

Most of my weekend, I fear, will be getting ready for my accountant. I have lots of receipts to tally, so I should get on it ASAP.

TOD:
DVD:  Too many are piling up; those Netflix items are still sitting at the top of the pile
CD:  I just discovered Barbara Cook had recorded a Christmas album with orchestrations by my friend Larry Blank, the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra, Guy Haines, several operettas
VCR: I may need to record BURN NOTICE but until then, it's anthropoligical studdies of various mating habits

On this day in Theatre History...

SUNRISE AT CAMPOBELLO starring Ralph Bellamy opened at the Cort Theatre in 1958.  James Earl Jones was also a member of the cast, making his Broadway debut.

Good Morning!

Beautiful but cold here and cooler than yesterday. We're not supposed to get out of the 40s today. I will have to bundle up to do my usual Friday errands.

Were there people here who liked HAMLET 2? I didn't remember any positive comments about it, but if there were, please speak up so we can hear an alternate take on the film.

Since Friday is one of my rest days from my workout, I took the opportunity and watched three more episodes of DAVE'S WORLD. There are too many sarcastic characters. There are too many dim-bulb characters.

Anyway. I have 7 more episodes to get through and hopefully can finish them this afternoon. I'd love to be done with it and free to watch whatever I choose tonight.

My feelings were ambivalent although my post was more positive than negative. On August 24, 2008, I posted:
I laughed, and laughed, and then laughed some more at HAMLET 2, which is set in the land where you go when your dreams die: Tucson, AZ, home of my Aunt Rene and Uncle Jay ad several DRs. The movie is really raunchy and rude although I think the production number "Rock Me, Sexy Jesus" transcends it and becomes theatre of the absurd. I had a great time.  There are some very funny things - the Tucson Gay Men's chorus providing the music, Elizabeth Shue playing herself as an unemployed actress finding happiness as a nurse - and it gets crazier from there.

I liked Steve Coogan a lot in TRISTRAM SHANDY, but i think he's a peculiar, uncharismatic, rather unappealing leading man, and it was the secondary characters I liked much more than him. A lot of the film didn't work but when I thought it was funny, I sure laughed.

I just have to mention that DR DAW, even in his food-poisoned state, managed to send what looks like a BD card to my DH. I'm sure when he gets home today and opens the mail he'll say: ""Singdaw always sends the nicest cards!"

Thanks, DAW!

I look forward to showing him everyone's birthday wishes as well!

I missed DR Edi's DH's BD?! -- Oh, Crap! --- (a pun from the Brain's NYC performance) -- that's what I get for being so E and T. I love that guy -- so belated BD wishes!
