I received two very lovely packages in the mail today, one from DR JRand with some cool viewing and listening items in it (I am listening to the Rome Adventure soundtrack as I type this) and one from 1950s actress Jil Jarmyn containing a some autographed photos and a delightful thank you card for some DVDs that I sent to her.

I guess I'll try to watch a motion picture - I'll finish The Dresser tomorrow - feel like something else tonight.

Well, much against my will, I now have another show to add to my viewing list. I have been eager to pare down my list to open up some more time, and now FLASHPOINT gets added to the weekly list. I watched my first-ever episode while I ate lunch today, and by the end I had tears streaming down my face. I was just expecting a police procedural. It was that but very emotional. I loved last night's episode.

Did you watch the latest episode or are you beginning from the first season?

I watched last night's episode, but I'll catch the reruns as they pop up.

And, DE der Brucer, no, I haven't sampled ELEVENTH HOUR. Something will have to be dropped for me to take on another show. So, as long as LIFE or LIFE ON MARS runs (they seem in more imminent danger), no more new shows!

DR Matt H. - I was just wondering if it is ever confusing for you, for movies you have not previously seen, to see the deleted scenes before viewing the feature.

I had never done this before, so I thought I'd try it. Not confusing at all, but made a couple of climactic moments in the film rather anticlimactic seeing them in context. I won't say I'll never do this again, but as an experiment, it didn't really work other than let me use my time wisely this afternoon.

I began my evening watching CADILLAC RECORDS. I liked the film, but I couldn't help feeling it was too ambitious for its own good. Too many stories, all interesting, squeezed into 108 minutes. Not enough time to give each of these interesting personalities his due.

The music, of course, was a tonic. Best part of the movie.

Well, the wimpy people were ready to leave after about a mile and a half. So after we all got back to the church, Barbara and I hopped in the car and took off on our own. We hiked another couple of miles in a different location.

We didn't have enough rain this year for a good wildflower year. Maybe some stuff will bloom in March.

For wildflowers come here in July and hike Mt. Ashland with me.

I find it very frustrating to drive far & then hike a short distance.  I'm glad you had the option to split with Barbara.

You are always welcome to come up here and hike.. I love going to Itasca

As I was trying to enter BD-Live, my player told me it was going to do a firmware upgrade, so that took 15 minutes to accomplish. Then, there was nothing there but trailers for downloading. Argh!

I wanted to come upstairs to write at about 9:45, so I couldn't start on anything new and have hopes of finishing. Then I spied on the shelf THE BONE COLLECTOR which I had seen once a year or two ago but put back in tonight and got very caught up in the story. However, it still had a good ways to run, so I stopped at a logical place in the movie and may have a chance to watch the rest of it tomorrow.

TOmorrow I'll watch DAMAGES as I eat lunch. I did get the regular FX broadcast, but the HD version is now on the HD Showcase channel so that's what I'll watch tomorrow.

I also still have CSI: NY on the DVR that I haven't gotten to yet.

And I got a few more review items today: THE 400 BLOWS on a Criterion Blu-ray disc. JAG-Season 8. And the Criterion Blu-ray of THE LAST METRO also arrived. The regular DVD of THE LAST METRO came yesterday. When it comes time to watch it, I'm not sure which one I'll watch first. Decisions, decisions....

This one had me totally puzzling over the term "North Dakota roots"....I kept trying to imagine what her hair looked like and just "what" North Dakota roots would look like.

And then the synapses completed the circuit and I went,  "Ohhhh...".

Roxana Saberi filed reprots with both NPR and the BBC. AT one time she also worked on the local telly stations. Her family still lives in the area and I have actually met her brother. Nice guy..

And it's sequel - Draining the Snake.
