Reading bk talking last night and today about his recording of "Sherry!" title song makes me long to break out that album again soon. That is one of my favorite tracks on any of his CDs, and I agree that Jonathan Freeman and Christine Baranski are PERFECTLY cast in those two parts. That track is a wonder! Makes you ponder how a score with a song like that could have been a part of a flop show.

I have that studio cast album of SHERRY, too, and I've never even taken it out of the shrink wrap. That may end up in my car's CD player today.

TOnight I am going with best friend John to the national tour of LEGALLY BLONDE. His wife can't accompany him tonight, so I will go. Having seen the show on MTV (or was it A&E or VH-1) a couple of years ago, there likely won't be many surprises, but naturally it's better to see these shows live on stage. Should be a fun evening.

Since I'll be gone tonight and unable to finish up my work project on the Korda movies then, I must try to get both of the remaining movies in the set watched this afternoon. Since each is slightly over 80 minutes long, I should be able to do it and then get them written up and the review finished and posted before I head out tonight.

At least, that's my plan.

Interesting story about Guy Haines' recording debut. It's great how he appeared at just the right time. I wonder if the other singer is one that BK has ever used before or since.

My fave Guy Haines' song is the one on the Peter Pan album. It is very soothing.

My favorite Guy Haines song is "What Could You Lose?" which he does much better than a different singer (who will go nameless) on another bk-produced album.

I'm going to head down a little earlier than usual now to get cleaned up to go out on my usual Friday outings. I have some packages to mail at the post office (who knows what kind of line there will be), and then the sooner I get back, the sooner I can eat lunch and then get started on those Korda movies for work.

Good morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I really wish the air wasn't soooo dry in this apartment.  Always takes a few minutes to re-hydrate each morning.  In any case...

Last night I watched the 1934 pre-code film SEARCH FOR BEAUTY which starred Buster Crabbe, Ida Lupino, and Robert Armstrong.

This film is a good example of why the "code" came into being!!

Lots of flesh -- male and female...including a locker room scene in which several completely bare male behinds were in view....I had to watch the scene several times in order to make sure that what I was seeing was for real

And I must say that the 1930s Ida Lupino is quite the looker...I would not have recognized her. Who knew?

Today marks the birthdays of both Shirley MacLaine and Barbra Streisand. (Shirley is a few years older.)

Just a few? :-)

Actually I have no problem with her rendition of the song. I have other versions of the song, with people  who I don't enjoy as much as hers.

Geraldinte Turner and Christopher McDowall. they are nice but IMHO not as good as GH or JK

Thanks DR Vixmom.  It was nice to get out & have fun.  The glass of wine turned out to be a BIG mistake.  I still have a headache.

Great news from the surgeon.  Do you feel up to driving?  Just because they tell you it is ok you need to remember & listen to what your body is telling you.

Actually I am going to do a little driving in about a half hour.

I just rescheduled the appointment I had with my GP for last Saturday which I couldn't keep because I was in the hospital.

My voice has become hoarse and strained.  I cannot tell if I am getting sick because I have a perpetual sore throat.

Uh-huh. I'm so glad that Mike's attention to detail is alive and well. We certainly wouldn't want any phoniness in the movies, would we??  ;)

Speaking of long phone calls, I had a call last night from my friend Sydney. We've been trying to catch up for at least a month, but keep missing one another. Her new film, MODERN LOVE IS AUTOMATIC, is very well received and won a couple awards. I'm really looking forward to seeing it. Perhaps it will require a trip to LA.
