Well, it seems like Ruth Reichl, the editor of "Gourmet" magazine, has been trying to get back into the restaurant-reviewing biz:

Commendations to FJL - a very difficult rhyming scheme done really well with no cheating.

I suspect a lot of people won't open their eBlasts until morning.

Well... After only getting four hours of sleep last night... And flying back to NYC earlier today... And then spending a few hours walking around town earlier tonight... Well... I'm sleepy.

Goodnight.

Just a late good evening everyone.

My think system is not working today.

Must be Monday.

For the topic of the day:

1984 LA summer Olympics,   Royal Opera  "Peter Grimes".

This would be the one that blew me away.

Since it's a slow news night, here's the latest version of "I'm Still Queer," which I believe was "inspired' by Jose saying he had a burger and beer, or some such thing.

(draft parody of "I'm Still Here")

<SNIP>

Very funny!! ;D

"Peter Grimes" reminds me of another for my list for the Topic of the Day...when I was going to Western Washington University, we would drive up to see the Vancouver Opera to see their final dress rehearsal for only $5 Canadian!  The one year that I remember, we saw "La Boheme" (and got to see the second act twice!), a not very good production of "Don Giovanni" (the singers were good but the set was simple and very stupid), and probably the best opera production that I've ever seen:  Benjamin Britten's "Turn of the Screw."  It was incredible.  The set was sparse but unlike "Don Giovanni," it was beautiful and very effective.  The singers were fabulous.  I was riveted the entire time. :D
