Thanks, DR Cillaliz.  I'm OK.  Not much on the job front yet, but I'm clearing out LOTS AND LOTS of clutter and have started jogging.  And the weather here has been so gorgeous, it's hard to feel bad about anything!   :)

Speaking of diets, here's a draft of "So Much Butter" from Cheekily Blonde: The Paula Dean Story

(almost a parody of "So Much Better"  :) )

All of the food I cooked
Hoping you’d get hooked
On my healthy cuisine
No not a single pat
Of congealing fat
In my healthy cuisine

And I have turned my kitchen inside out trying not to lose my show
Watching the turning tide is making me go whoa!

Oh!
Now viewers don’t mind a fatter hide
I’ll take you for a triglycer-ride
So what can I bake
I’ll use nothing that’s fake
And my ratings will soar

I need a trademark good as gold
Your fellas won’t mind much more to hold
I’ll use so much butter like before

Honey we’ve been obsessed
We’ve been watercressed
‘Til my viewership fell
But seems that a pound or two
Plus a poofy do
Can come off pretty well

Honey remember when we’d bake a cake on my program every night
They’d insist that I use only Fleischman’s Light

Get this right

We’re gonna use butter by the stick
No phony fat for this here chick
Being real can be hot
Are you ready or what
Hurry down to the store

I’m gonna buy butter by the tub
These days people love a funny zhlub
And now there’ll be so much butter
Your heart will flutter
The AMA’s gonna spit and sputter!

I’ll have so much butter
I’ll have so much butter
I’ll have so much butter like before!

It was  very warm and humid today with dark clouds, but strangly nice out.

I attempted to mow the lawn this afternoon before the rains started again but was caught in the downpour. The rain was so warm that I just carried on and even did some weeding....I was completely drenched by the time I decided to call it quits...couldn't see with the water streaming down my face. It was a very hard rain.

See you in a few.

Interesting one of the related videos that comes up is one of Judy Kaye that I taped during the Jeepers Creepers CD recording session!

There was a particularly chilling murder in TORN CURTAIN.....a Russian agent just wouldn't stay down....I think he was finally dispatched with a shovel.

But the most chilling death/murder for me was the botched execution in THE GREEN MILE.

Actually, they gas him to death when the shovel and a knife don't do the job.

Had a lengthy evening with the X-Men. The third film is the least of the trilogy, and, of course, it has the best transfer to my eyes. Sound is great, too. The film lacks all of the nuance that Bryan Singer brought to the first two films, but strictly as a comic book movie, it's OK.

There were, as I expected, a HUGE load of bonus features for the third film, so that took me a good three hours this evening. But I think I got through everything.

I really could have done without that hour long recitation (and interview) of every artist who ever worked on the X-Men comic series. Fans of the comics, of course, would be in hog heaven with it. But I watched it.

Since I had a bunch of writing to do, I didn't watch another movie tonight. Instead, I watched Thursday night's episode of SOUTHLAND. I do like the show, but there are too many police characters, and due to that, they don't manage to fit each one in each week. Makes it hard for an audience to develop a rooting interest in characters we don't see on a weekly basis.

Looks like NBC has picked up the show for a 13-episode order to start next season. I suggest over the summer, they decide which characters need to stay and which need to go. Not every one is compelling enough to merit a spot on the show.

I plan to take the day off tomorrow and watch some Warner Archive discs, a Blu-ray, and possibly a Doris Day feature from that latest box set.

It will be great sitting in my chair without a notepad and pen in my lap.

However, I did get the next Criterion disc in the mail today: THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE. I will enjoy seeing that again after decades away from it.

I'm really tired so I'm heading downstairs a bit earlier than usual for some much needed rest.

Good night!

Good Evening!

And it really was a good evening.  A very good evening.

Good food, good drink, and good company.  *I even ended up having dinner with the CFO of Garrett Popcorn.

We're planning on heading out early tomorrow for breakfast, and, then, possibly a bike ride.  Or at least a good walk.  And then we're having a mini-Theatre-VCU reunion tomorrow afternoon.

I was thinking the same thing, MattH. Some of the characters I just don't care about and I would like to see more police work and less soap opera storylines. Regina King's character is the one I find the most interesting of the lot, aside from the rookie patrolman and his partner. If the show were simply about those 3 characters I would be more than happy.

Could not find my Last Starfighter movie, so I watched Starman instead.

Oh the days before CGI.

All this talk about food, time to make some cranberry cornbread.  Still on my forced diet of nothing hard, crunchy, sticky or chewy.  Cornbread is OK.
