The talk of a revival of BBB is a reality. The cast and theatre and production company have been announced. Roundabout has taken a lease on the "new" Henry Miller's Theatre. It was torn down a couple of years ago, except for the landmarked facade and completely rebuilt as part of a new office building spanning half of 42nd and 43rd Streets. The facade has been re-installed and the theatre is completely "green" (whatever that means).

That's what this means. Henry Miller Goes Green

The first production in the theatre will be the aforementioned BBB starring John Stamos as Albert Peterson (Dick Van Dyke), Gina Gershon as Rose Alvarez (Chita Rivera), Bill Irwin as Mr. Harry MacAfee (Paul Lynde) and Jayne Houdyshell as Mrs. Mae Peterson (Kaye Medford). The rest of the cast has not been announced. The show begins previews on September 10th and opens in early October. It's still set in the 60s which is a good sign. We shall see.

Robert Longbottom will direct and choreograph.

The daughter of one of my Mom's sisters hosted a lunch for us at Legends Villas. She's the Food & Beverage Manager there. Needless to say, it was another "feast", however, this one was quite delicious. I had to make sure to pace myself - I had to save room for dessert! ;)

*And for dessert, in addition to the traditional Halo-Halo (shaved ice with various sweet toppings), they brought out an old Filipino favorite of mine, pawlitow.  It's basically small "cakes" that are made from sweet rice flour.  After being poached in hot water, they are they covered in coconut, sesame seeds and sugar. I haven't had it in years. Well, this pawlitow was pretty amazing, and instead of being "plain", it was served along with mango puree and chunks of fresh mango. Ma sarap!

After lunch, we drove around town for a bit to do some sight-seeing.  We stopped by a few of my Mom's old haunts: her original house, her elementary school, her high school.  We also paid short visits to some family friends and school mates.  -Tomorrow, my mom's sister, Evelyn, is hosting a reunion of my Mom's high school graduating class - a 52 Year Reunion! Evelyn owns an "event space" - complete with a pool! - and they will be having the reunion there.

We eventually made our way back to the condominium where we are staying.  It was quite amazing to see it during the daytime.  It turns out that it's in a very upscale district of Manila, Bonifacio High Street at Fort Bonifacio Global City.  The complex, The Serendra, has a a nice gym, spa and pool, as well as some of the friendliest staff I've ever had the pleasure to come across.  It also sits right between two major shopping "centers" - Bonifacio High Street and Market! Market!

*I could go into great detail about both places, but I think the fact that I took almost 200 pictures of various storefronts and other sights may say enough for now.

Monday morning greetings!  It's "turn-around day" for Richard and me.  Unpacking from our festive weekend in greater Cincinnati and packing for the rest of the week in Wisconsin.  Wednesday is alumni day and Thursday commencement at Nashotah House (Richard's seminary) and we thought a little vacation would be in order.  Friday we're going to Ten Chimneys to say HI to the Lunts.

Good morning, all! This is a day of Frank Loesser for me. Tonight, I have the senior recital at Juilliard of Missd Carin Gilfry, Rodney's daughter. Hopefully, these are my two and only two things on the schedule.

I slept very poorly: I was wide awake between 5 and 6 am, and around 5:30 I thought about geting out of bed and starting the day. Then I decided I was a moron.

TOD:

I'm very pleased with the TAR winners and the Celebrity Apprentice winner

I didn't mind the outcome at all.  All three teams fought good and hard and did their best and in the end, the best team won.  The "amazing" moments for me were: 1.  Jamie actually apologizing for her behavior (though I guess it helped that the cab driver could understand English.), 2.  Luke and Jamie helping each other with the last challenge, 3.  Luke telling Marge how happy he was to have her as a mom--that one got to me.

Hey! I have a great idea for the Bye-Bye-Birdie revival! Have the cast play the instruments and tote them all over the stage!

Waiting for a call from a friend who's driving from Danville, KY, to her home in Michigan today.  When she gets north of Cincinnati, we'll make arrangements for a rendezvous at exit 32.

Bye for now!

Good morning!

Boy! We lost summer quick enough. It's COLD this morning and raining, too (though that's supposed to clear by the afternoon), so I'll be wearing a sweater and jeans for lunch today instead of shorts which have been the standard outfit the last two weeks.

I can tell you why *I* didn't start a topic last night. I didn't read the notes until this morning. BK changed the topic so early (understandable considering his bedtime and wake-up call), that we were on a new day before I went to bed. My routine is to read the notes after logging on in the morning no matter when they're posted.

I have no idea what review items might arrive in today's mail. The plan now is to start on GUNSMOKE, but since it doesn't come out until the 26th, it can be postponed for something more pressing.
