I think Liz Callaway was in Indy last weekend.  Tell her to cash the check in a hurry.

I just had a nice split of champagne courtesy Fred Graham & Lilli Vanessi, and it gives me a nice glow.

I haven't had a chance to read any of the Tony posts from last night. That will have to wait till tomorrow.

But i did watch the show. And thought i'd give my 2 cents.

I really liked neil patrick harris and actually wish he had gotten to do an opening number. i thought his closing number was one of the highlights of the show.

I didn't really like the touring companies numbers. I would have rather seen other shows on broadway now. Although i think that the Jersey Boys number did come across quite well. And while i like mamma mia and legally blonde a lot it just didn't excite me (especially since the actresses did not excite me).

I think the idea for the Opening Number was great. But it was too hectic for my taste.

And what were some of the people who decided on the musical numbers thinking?

There is only one number that i saw that made me really want to see that show. And that was NEXT TO NORMAL. I loved that they showed 3 main characters. And i loved the song.

I also would love to see BILLY ELLIOT. But i thought that their main number ( i liked the beginning one with elton john) was too out of context for me. It seemed interesting. But i could not follow what was happening.

GUYS & DOLLS?????  I wanted to see lauren graham so much. Or craig bierko. Instead they show some guy singing "rock the boat". THat is a nice song. But not what i wanted to see.

I think the HAIR and WSS numbers were okay choices (key songs). But they did not make me want to see either show.

I actually enjoyed the 9-5 number and dolly parton.

And it looks like www.bluegobo.com is back up and running....sans the Ed Sullivan clips.

I am very glad.  They have always had the best copy on the internet of "WE'LL TAKE A GLASS TOGETHER" with Michael Jeter and the WSMA.  That clip always makes me happy.

DR Ben - Will you be wearing your tux again when you give your presentation in DC? ;)

-I await your I-was-sitting-in-RCMH report.

If it meant that Mr. Gates would give me a grant to research the difference between theatre in London, Dublin, Paris, New York, Minneapolis, San Francisco and Los Angeles, sure ;)

Ahhhhhh, what about Seattle?

One wag over at ATC suggested that Aaron Tveit and Stockard Channing can do a stage adaptation of THE FAN.     :)

Thank you!  I had no idea who the young boy was flirting with Stockard.

That "some guy" just got the television exposure that can launch a career.  His name is Tituss Burgess - remember it.

Michael Jeter got the same kind of exposure the year he won Featured Actor in a Musical for Grand Hotel.  His performance of "We'll Take a Glass Together", along with his acceptance speech, was immediately followed by his being signed to the Burt Reynolds television series Evening Primrose, and he no longer had to stick to his paralegal day job.

Burgess' performance of "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat" was the same kind of career launcher.  And it was the kind of performance I love to see on the Tonys.

I have pulled the entire contents of my living room closet out, and now my living room is quite the mess.

Little by little I will find new ways to store all this stuff and/or give much stuff to the Humane Society Thrift Store.

I am currently putting envelopes full of photos into the many photo albums I have purchased over the years.

Miss Dixie Bell needs all the vibes we can muster:  her left hind leg has gone out on her, the vet thinks it is only a torn ligament and put her on a stronger anti-inflammatory.  She has all her energy and her cold wet nose, she's just not putting any weight down on that leg.

Miss Dixie Bell Health Vibes!

Good Evening!

After running some errands earlier, I proceeded to walk through Riverbank State Park.  Then down to Columbia University.  The through Morningside Park.  Then through St. Nicholas Park...

A good walk, and the "promised" rain never materialized.  Instead, it turned out to be quite a cool, early summer evening in New York City.  :)

To answer my own question from last night:

The three Billy's were NOT the youngest performers ever to win Tonys.  That distinction belongs to Frankie Michaels [young Patrick] who won for Mame in 1966 at the age of 10.  Daisy Egan was 12 when she won in 1991 for The Secret Garden.

And Larry will be younger than springtime when he wins his.

Did he start counting back from 100?

Tituss already has quite a career.  He managed to survive Good Vibrations unscathed, then went right into the original company of Jersey Boys... Then into The Wiz at La Jolla... Then Sebastian in the original cast of The Little Mermaid.  And now, Nicely-Nicely in the current revival of Guys & Dolls.  Four years, four Broadway shows - not a bad track record at all! -With a couple of other theatrical stops along the way.  And he released a solo R&B-inflected album back in 2006.

*On a personal note, when we were both relative "nobodies" ;), I played for him during a cast cabaret.  He sang "Here's That Rainy Day"... God, I wish that was on YouTube.  Although, there are some other clips of him on YouTube (not accompanied by me).

DR Jennifer - There's a reason that Lauren Graham has not been doing that much publicity - singing publicity - for the show.  -Just sayin'. ;)

*Although, she and Kate Jennings Grant have been performing "Marry The Man Today" at select events.

**And Craig Bierko was featured in the Opening Medley.
