West Side Story in stereo - or was it processed?  Was it originally released in stereo?

Yep, REAL stereo.

Just out of curiosity, I was checking out the Broadway cast recording of Chess on Amazon.  It is no longer in print.  I already own two copies, but you can obtain new copies there for a mere $160.00.       :P

Actually there is one person selling it for $195.24

And all a person wanting a copy would have to do is contact me, and I'd burn them one for free. When CDs go out of print, I find nothing wrong with burning copies rather than someone paying such outlandish amounts.

Does Blockbuster ever sell Previously Viewed Blu Ray discs?

Yes, they do.  They recently had a slew of them in their 2 @ $25.00 Blu-Ray bin - I chose IRONMAN and JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH (3-D).

I was going to answer also in the affirmitive. So now he knows FOR SURE!  ;)

I had a good evening of viewing. I finished watching THE FASHION SHOW, and for a change I agreed with the decision of who was to go home.

Next, I watched another episode of THE CLOSER. This was the one with the serial rapist who turned out not to be the person the police first arrested only to find the real prep getting away with it. I remember when I watched the episode the first time, I guessed early who the guilty person was and I was SO frustrated that he led the squad around so cluelessly all the while covering his tracks.

Next I watched THE WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER. One reason I probably had never seen it all the way through was that it's so LONG! Some good moments, and Alan Marshal is a ravishing actor to look at, but Roddy McDowall growing into Peter Lawford wasn't too believable and Elizabeth Taylor growing into June Lockhart was even more ridiculous.

The story was pretty predictable, too, but the cast really was made up of the cream of MGM's character actor stable: May Whitty, Gladys Cooper, C. Aubrey Smith, Frank Morgan, Van Johnson.

And I ended my Sunday with another wonderful episode of TRUE BLOOD. Very involving and with some usual surprises. And, of course, Jason goes shirtless yet again to luscious effect.

Thanks DRs td, ARNOLDMBROCKMAN, and MATTH - I think I will travel over to Blockbuster on Tuesday and see what Blu Ray discs are available.  I think one of the managers told me once that they put out the "new" PVP discs on Monday.

Back from a jaunt to Coney island, USA (well, a block away from Coney island) for a Father's day dinner with Mom, Dad, Brother and Sister-in-law.   My brother and sister-in-law brought Mom and dad a beautiful new TV set.  i brought Mom and Dad their 2008 tax returns.

They've sold to me. . .even PV dvds. . .and I don't have a card.  (Blockbuster is only convenient when I have to take Mum for DR's appointments at the UPMC next to that particular plaza).

I know I'm a bad gay man but I would rather eat ground glass than sit through even the opening credits of Bruno. Borat made my ears bleed. I find the appeal of Sacha Baron Cohen incomprehensible. I know what he's trying to do but I don't enjoy cringe comedy like that. I find it hateful and useless in the long run.

I hate his brand of "comedy" and certainly don't need to patronize it.

this is the next post I warned you about

the PEG (as it's called) is a flexible tube about as thick as your standard pencil - and about 18 inches long -  I went in to the GI to see about having it removed since I have been feeling better and had gone a couple of weeks without using it.

I had a 6:40 appointment but the receptionist called me at 6 to ask if I could come in sooner as I was the last appointment of the day - I explained I was leaving from work right then but with traffic and the distance I would probably not arrive until  just about the appointment time   then she mentioned that I would be having the PEG removed that evening.  This suprised me as I had called asking what was involved in getting the PEG removed and was told I would have to come in to the office and be seen by the doctor first.

Considering the circumstances I called Vixdad to see if he would be home in time to accompany me and discovered he would.  I decied to stop home and meet with him before headingout tot he doctor as I was not sure of my ability to drive after having the PEG removed

I called the doctors' office and informed the woman who had previously asked me to hurry in that I may be 5  or 10 minutes late since I npow need ed transportation home and she told me to do my best to get there on time as she didn;t want me to be dissapointed  by arriving at a locked and closed offcie as I was indeed the last appontment

I met Vixdad at home and we jumped into his car and broke several speed limits to be sure we arrived on time ... which we did  to find ther was nowhere to sit in the waiting room as it was overflowing with people waiting to be seen

We waited over two hours to see the doctor -

and now the gross part --- the way he removed the tube was simply by telling me to lie down on the table  and then yanking it out - I yelled - it HURT!!!

There was no warning- no anesthesia - not even any antiseptic before or after - "the procedure"

then he didn't put any stictches in the resultant hole -- so now I have a hole in my abdomen - and there is a little bit of pink colored tissue slightly protruding from it .

The GI insisted that this was a  perfectly normal  procedure and that I would heal up just fine - but the whole thing strikes me as somewhat  "third world" type  medicine ...

and she has been asked to the senior prom by a nice young man who is a good friend of hers and whose mother has been my friend since we were 15

It is this coming Friday and she is very excited.  We are recycling the bridesmaid dress she wore last August to use as the prom gown, and she is going to get her hair done in a reasonable replica of the style the Canadaian beautician created .  She scoffed at me last summer whenI was taking pciters of teh back of her head, but now she is happy because she was able to bring them in to the local beautician and shoe her exactly what she wanted

I grew up listening to West Side Story - when I was about 4 my dad built his own stereo system from a kit and his favorite LP to play was  WSS -  I knew all the songs by heart before I started kindergarten

It remains my favorite

DR vixmom - Good to see your smiling avatar gracing these pages again!

-Do you need someone to call your office with an "emergency" that would require you to leave early?

Well actually I do have some mixed feelings about the prom date - I am very happy she was invited - I am a little nervous about the actual being out there at night with a bunch of seniors part - especially as the boy lives in another town and she will not know anybody else there except for him

And for your feeding tube, DR vixmom, I believe that is the standard procedure for taking it out.  I'm just sorry your physician's bedside manner wasn't more informative or pleasant.  Did you at least consult with a nurse in regards to the proper care of the "scar" where the tube was?
