TOD:

Beef heart
Beef tongue
Chicken feet
Tripe (in both Menudo and Chiltlins (sp) )
Fried Gizzard
Fish head and tail
Frog legs
Eel
Pigs Feet
Abalone
Snails
Quail Eggs
Snake
Squirrel (I feel guilty about that one)
Seaweed
Fish roe
Sea Urchin

I am a very adventurous eater, and would only draw the line at eating something that was still alive.

I would rather...not.

A nice quick lunch today which left me with plenty of time to get my work project completed and to watch some things this afternoon.

More sad Hollywood news...

Actress Brenda Joyce (Tarzan's Jane in the 1940s, also the Inner Sanctum films PILLOW OF DEATH and STRANGE CONFESSION) died at a nursing home in NY on July 4th. She had been suffering from dementia for several years.

Actress Helen Hovey who played the tormented school teacher in the cult film THE SADIST opposite Arch Hall Jr. (her real life cousin) died this week in Texas.

I read about Brenda Joyce on-line yesterday and in the newspaper today. I just watched her last film as Jane (with Lex Barker who was making his first appearance as Tarzan). Her replacement in the second Barker/Tarzan picture was not very good at all.

When I got in from lunch, I immediately got down to business with PRISON BREAK: THE FINAL BREAK on Blu-ray.

I had no trouble at all following the story, and while I'm sure there is tons of backstory between the leads and, say, T-Bag who's still in prison, it didn't really matter that I didn't know it. It was sufficient to know they didn't trust him.

Some good twists and turns in the plotting though the prison motif wasn't as well executed as it was in OZ and some plotting got a little garbled in the second half of the story.

Still, I enjoyed it, and I'm sure fans of the show had tears in their eyes with the ending.

The only bonus feature at all was two deleted scenes (totaling 4 minutes). I can't believe there wouldn't have been a commentary from the stars or the directors or even a retrospective featurette on the history of the show. That REALLY surprised me.

I guess they're saving that kind of thing for the Season 4 box set.

Next, I began looking at the soap operas for the day. I started with THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS which did have the break-up of Adam and Rafe and the Nikki conversation to Victor about Adam. Victor's reaction was a big surprise, and somehow, I have a feeling maybe Adam might think that he could find some way to lure Rafe back in to use him some more since Victor isn't disowning him over what he thinks he knows.

Next up was AS THE WORLD TURNS with Luke's big bombshell and the typical explosion of the family about it. Luke was in the previews for tomorrow, too, but it's easy to see where this is going. Luke's going to be off on business with his new job, and Noah's going to stray with his college professor.

Last night I began watching the "Making of MARNIE" documentary on the MARNIE DVD, and I only got part of the way through it before I stopped to begin watching TORCHWOOD. I continued watching in the time I had left this afternoon, but I still didn't finish it. I'll finish it when I go back down later.

Hopping off-line for the moment to work on today's work project. Then it'll be back downstairs for an evening of leisure viewing.

MattH,

In your review of The Towering Inferno you state:

Quote
Having to manipulate a handful of stars in the mix, however, necessitated his inventing an equal number of set piece moments of derring-do for his two top-billed stars as well as signature moments for all of the recognizable star cast.

So, they cast the picture first, then adjusted the screenplay as necessary?

der Brucer

According to the bonus features, that's exactly what happened, at Steve McQueen's insistence.

Right or Wrong -I understand the Hollywood mentality of Billing. However,if an Actor(STAR) is in a movie I want to see because he/she is in the movie it wouldn't matter a hoot(even if it's Gibson) if he/she is Fourth or Fifth Billed.

I found out yesterday that the company that laid me off has since been forced to cut the salaries of the employees that remain by 20% in order to try to stay in business.        :-\

That's very scary.

My cat-sitting assignment begins either tonight or tomorrow morning.
Don't sit ON the cat!!!  That's the first rule of cat sitting.  I found that out the hard way.

I've just got to say.....When the neighbor called the police to report a possible burglary, and the policeman knocked on our door in the middle of the night, did we get upset..NO.  Keith talked to him, answered his questions and THANKED HIM for checking on the house.  The next day I thanked the neighbor for calling the police & let her know our power was out & it was only Keith walking around with a flashlight.

I think Obama should have kept his thoughts to himself until he had all the facts.

Tripe, I suppose.  One of the few things I've tried that I really didn't care for.  But I'm up for most anything.

I would have to agree - Tripe.

Hello, everyone.

My travels today took me through BK territory--past Hamilton Hgh, through Beverlywood, and past the Fine Arts Theatre. I'll be making this trek frequently for a while as I go to Beverly Hills for medical treatment.
