And speaking of last night...

Here's the trailer for the new movie musical, Clear Blue Tuesday.  DR Julie was/is one the producers of the movie - and that accounts for some of her errant and truantness.

The movie will be premiering here in NYC on September 10.  It features a great bunch of Broadway and off-Broadway actors, who also happened to write their own music for the movie too.  There is a Fan Page on Facebook if you'd like to find out more about how the movie was made, the whole process.

As for the title of the movie, it refers to September 11, 2001.  The movie then covers six subsequent Tuesdays in September.

Cassie Kubinski is in it! She played Mirette in the Jones-Schmidt MIRETTE when I scored it at Goodspeed. She also played Annie in the lasty Goodspeed revivalof ANNIE, I think. That was 1998 and she's all grown up!

Good morning, everyone.

I, too, had a bad night. I had a flare-up of a very worrisome problem. This time, DR Laura, I will ask for any HHW vibes our DRs can send. And now I must see if my doctor can fit me in for an unscheduled appointment.

Thanks!

Yes, DR ELMORE....the I-70 Killer was responsible for about a dozen deaths.  Most of them were young males thought to be hustlers and gay drifters.  The police were apathetic about the cases, and the families of two of the young men finally were able to get such a public outcry going, that they had to start an investigation.

Although the case was eventually solved, there is evidence that the killer is still at large.

And now I shall be off to a brush up rehearsal....that some people are too busy to attend....those of course being the performers that need it most.

And when I get home, my sister Molly will be here!

Is the Kindle only available through Amazon?  Are there other products like the Kindle?

As far as I know, the Kindle is an Amazon-specific product.  There are other kinds of book readers, but I don't know anything about them.  The library where I work does not plan on getting any kind of reader.

ARSENIC AND OLD LACE is coming along.....it really is a funny play, although I am still a bit put off by the whole idea of two little old ladies murdering a dozen old men.

There's nothing like the reality of a killer like John Wayne Gacy to spoil the fun of the fantastic ARSENIC AND OLD LACE. Wasn't there a serial killer in the 1980 working Route 70 out of Indianapolis?

Yes, there was.  His name was Herbert Baumeister and he was manager of a retail store....had a really nice home outside of Indy...and a wife and kids.

Very sad story.

I was looking at flat screen TVs at Costco yesterday.  Am I correct in assuming that the plasma TVs are less expensive, because they have proven to be less dependable?

No, that is NOT right. I've never read anything to suggest that plasmas are any less reliable than LCDs. LCDs are more popular now (for some reason), so retailers can charge a premium for them.

I watched RAISING THE BAR while I ate lunch. Even though Charlie wasn't on at all this week, it was the year's best episode thus far. I really enjoyed it.

Next I watched the last 1 hour and 16 minutes of JEANNE DIELMAN. The third day ended in shocking and somewhat melodramatic fashion. I didn't really understand why until I watched the first bonus feature. Still, the film was pretty amazing and certainly unlike anything else I've ever seen.

And leave us not forget John Wayne Gacy was from Chicago....and a serial killer named Dean Corll, born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, who with two teen accomplices, tortured, mutilated and raped 33 young men in Texas.  Jeffrey Dahmer was from Milwaukee and Ed Gein was from Wisconsin (and committed some of the most gruesome, repulsive murders on record).

Then I started watching the bonus features. There are lots of them, and many of them are very long (the first was 69 minutes long). I still have two more to go before I finish this Criterion package.

I bet he would. He will climb your leg like a tree.

Hopping off-line now to get some writing done. Then it'll be back downstairs to finish up the rest of the bonus features on JEANNE DIELMAN

JEANNE DIELMAN

Saw this in college when the film buff society put in on their schedule.  It was fun spying the "clues" along the way that foreshadowed that something wasn't quite right.

Back from doing the long jog, returning tapes to the vault, picking up new tapes, listening to the new tapes, and doing some errands and whatnot.  Of the three tapes I picked up, two were mono, one was stereo and the two monos seem to be mono versions of what's on the stereo tape.  What's on the stereo tape is heartbreaking - only twelve minutes of a stunningly beautiful score, beautifully recorded in stereo - but it's twelve minutes out of about thirty-five.  I will find a way to release it, but it will have to be tagged onto something else, and that's not going to be easy to find something appropriate.  We shall see.

Also, good news today - I got another oft-requested cast album to put on CD.

DR LAURA I think you asked this question last night.

On the bottom left of your Facebook page you will see the word "Applications"....clicking on the two people standing together will take you to a list of the groups you are a member of.

Yes that was me & DR DAW sent me through "info" to find it.  Thanks, now I have two ways to check them out.
