Well, you've read the notes, the notes told the tale, and now it is time for you to post until the California cows come home.

I've just been told that I won't be doing LIE TO ME if I happen to receive it. (It didn't come today.)

That's OK. I have a mammoth undertaking coming next - Criterion's 9-hour THE HUMAN CONDITION. This will likely take me three days to finish.

If that's some kind of snootiness disease, yes.

Oh, I think she has a Chow. In any case..

Two of her dogs, Francesca and Sharkey, actually have their own blog:

The Daily Wag

They "interview" fellow dogs in need of good homes.

And even though I knew some of the cast member of Catch Me If You Can already had some post-Seattle-run gigs lined up, I thought it was still on track to come into NYC this spring.  However, according to VARIETY... ???

In one of the more astonishing examples of NY chutzpah, they've been doing heavy construction outside this hotel for the last two hours - I'm talking about jack-hammering loudly, and that annoying beeping when trucks are backing up - I'm sorry, but it is impossible to sleep with that racket, and it's a little shocking they can do it at this hour of the evening.  Shame on all of them.

Wow!  I've never been awake for the "changing of the topic" here at HHW before!  That could only happen when BK's in the Eastern Time Zone.

Travel vibes, BK, and 'night, everybody!

A have a lot of DVDs to watch this weekend & beyond:

I just started watching HARPER'S ISLAND.  It's a guilty pleasure that'll stick with, so that I can see who is doing all the killing.

I also have both seasons of CALIFORNICATION, CRIMINAL MINDS, Season 4, SONS OF ANARCHY, SURVEILLANCE, EARTH, plus I was over at Blockbuster today and picked up used copies of KNOWING, GET SMART and CORALINE.

What to watch.  What to watch.

LA BASIN LAYS OUT A WELCOME HOME FOR BRUCE KIMMEL

FIRE TORCHES HOMES NEAR L.A., HUNDREDS FLEE

LOS ANGELES —  Wildfires erupted up and down California Thursday as a late summer siege of heat and low humidity levels made conditions ripe for conflagrations.

Structures could be seen burning in the wealthy communities on the Palos Verdes Peninsula south of Los Angeles, while suburbs on the foothills to the north of the city were threatened by a slumbering fire that suddenly roared to life in the evening hours.

Dozens of homes were evacuated in Rancho Palos Verdes, Los Angeles County fire Inspector Steve Zermeno said. TV news footage showed structures on fire and at least one entirely engulfed in flames. Fire officials could not confirm if any structures or homes had been damaged or destroyed.

In the northern Los Angeles foothill suburb of La Canada Flintridge, residents of about 500 homes were told to evacuate Thursday night, where a fast-moving wildfire has crested a ridge and is burning downhill towards neighborhoods.

$150,000 pledged to save LACMA film program

Responding to public outcry over the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's decision to end its 40-year-old weekend film program, two outside organizations have stepped forward to pledge a total of $150,000 in the fight to save the screening series.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Assn., which organizes the annual Golden Globe Awards, and Time Warner Cable, in association with Ovation TV, have each agreed to put up $75,000 toward the LACMA film program, which had been scheduled to close in October.

In addition, Time Warner Cable and Ovation said that they will spend more than $1.5 million to market the film program across their multiple media platforms, both locally and nationally.

IT WAS 113 DEGREES IN LA TODAY.

6 HEAT RECORDS WERE BROKEN.

So I'm just going to say good morning and good night.

Too hot to think (ha ha).  It's really hot where I work, outside and inside.

Maybe in my cave this weekend I'll catch up on the posts.
