We we were in Paris I discovered Madeline's, and then discovered the bakery that made the best Madeline's and returned there on a daily basis. On a small scale that is similar to having a favorite brand

DR François is there a name for the shopping area in Paris with the cobblestone streets? I remember shops with stalls outside selling their wares, mostly of clothing and flowers. We found a wine shop & purchased a bottle of Champagne. We then found a pastry shop & purchased a wonderful French pizza and a couple of yummy napoleons. We stored it all in the frig in our hotel room until dinner time where we enjoyed a view of the Eiffel Tower while we ate. The meal was delicious.

Do you mean "madeleines"?

It is a type of cake not a brand, like Sarah Lee's madeleines!

Hmmm ... there are many cobblestone streets in Paris ... Sometimes stalls are on the sidewalks during special events like Xmas or Fall Markets ... or street markets on Wedneday mornings and saturday mornings ...

Hmmm, it has been a number of years since we were there. It wasn't far from our hotel. In a different direction, and close to the hotel was a military museum which was very interesting. The first day I arrived I was on my own & went shopping to find a pair of French jeans. I discovered the cobblestone streets & loads of wonderful shops, and beautiful flower stands everywhere. I can't say where I was. It was a fun side of Paris we would have missed and I not forgotten to pack jeans.

DR Ginny is "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" on your book group list? The title didn't appeal to me and gave me a very different image of the contents. I had to read it for our September meeting and have been enchanted. I did not want the book to end.

I used to love roller coasters, but I haven't been on one in years. I was ready to try the one at NY, NY in Vegas, but I couldn't get anyone to go on it with me. I used to love Montezooma's Vegenge and Boomerarng at Knott's Berry Farm. I am probably too old for roller coasters now.

I love the Haunted Mansion, Pirates, the Matterhorn, and Space Mountain for adult fun at Disneyland; but I can't leave without visiting Peter Pan, Snow White, and It's A Small World, either.

I'm down to two choices for the November meeting at my house. I'm deciding between PEOPLE OF THE BOOK by Geraldine Brooks or HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET by Jamie Ford. That is unless I can find something better, and read it, before Tuesday.

Has anyone read either book?

DR Jane, my group read PEOPLE OF THE BOOK and loved it. The fiction goddesses at my former workplace have all raved about THE HOTEL AT THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET.

RE: the TOD.

I remember being a kid at either Disney World or Disneyland and going on Space Mountain. But i don't think you could see what it was and i was a bit scared.

One of my favorite coasters is here (montreal) at La Ronde. The monster. I love that one!

I'm watching episodes 9, 10,11 of TRUE BLOOD 2 tonight (or as much as i get to).

I'm also reading Sophie Kinsella's new book Twenties Girl.

I requsted DUPLICITY from the library. But they have not gotten the August movies yet.
I believe my mom saw it in the theatre and did not like it. She found it very confusing.

And there is my dilemma, I agree with both comments. I wish I owned People instead of getting it from the library. There aren't any copies for me to check out so I need to buy one. I want to read it again to make my decision. I tend to prefer to discuss a complete novel to short stories, which People is in a way. Quickly, read Hotel for me and tell me which to choose.

You were near the Invalides which, indeed, are not far from the I-Fell (?!) Tower.
