Now I pretty much love all opera. I didn't really like it all that much until I started to study voice in college; suddenly, I appreciated what it was that singers were doing!
Ditto! I've posted this before but one of the absolute best opera experiences that I had was Benjamin Britten's "Turn of the Screw" at Vancouver Opera when I was in college. It was absolutely riveting. We also saw a wonderful production of "La Boheme" there.
One of my favorite opera films is "
Tosca" with Plácido Domingo, Raina Kabaivanska and Sherrill Milnes. It was filmed in the actual places where the opera takes place and at the times of day that it's all supposed to happen. That's pretty cool.
