I just got in from the FINIAN'S RAINBOW rehearsal and I'm ready to crash. I caught the last half of Jenna Elfman's new series. Not too good, I thought. THE CLOSER reruns ar better.

BK, if no one's identified your 20s song, I'll give it a try. My Kritzerland package is here but I have not opened today's mail yet.

Is any DR planning on watching the new television program Flash Forward?

I thought it was a movie.  Our DVR is already full or I would.

I did.  It was cute...but not knee-slapping hy-larious.  I'll watch it for a while to see if it's really any good.

Thanks George.  I missed it & don't really have room to record it.  I do have a 2nd DVR & will put it there.  It may be awhile before we watch so please let me know what you think of the following episodes.

Sure...I just have to remember to find out when it regularly airs.  I recorded a re-broadcast of the pilot.

What's Flash Forward?

SPOILERS!!!!!!

FlashFoward (no space) is a new series based on a book called Flashforward, by Robert J. Sawyer, originally published in 1999.  Here's the Publisher's Weekly review (as posted on Amazon) for the original book:

Quote
From Publishers Weekly:
A science experiment that unwittingly shuts down all human consciousness for two minutes is the catalyst for a creative exploration of fate, free will and the nature of the universe in Sawyer's soul-searching new work (after Factoring Humanity). In April 2009, Lloyd and Theo, two scientists at the European Organization for Particle Physics (CERN), run an experiment that accidentally transports the world's consciousness 20 years into the future. When humanity reawakens a moment later, chaos rules. Vehicles whose drivers passed out plow into one another; people fall or maim themselves. But that's just the beginning. After the horror is sorted out, each character tries desperately to ensure or avoid his or her future. Trapped by his guilt for causing so much destruction and driven by a need to rationalize, Lloyd tries to prove that free will is a myth. Theo discovers that he will be murdered and begins to hunt down his killer tempting fate as in the Greek dramas of his ancestors. Some people start on their appointed roads early, others give up on life because of what they've seen. Using a third-person omniscient narrator, Sawyer shifts seamlessly among the perspectives of his many characters, anchoring the story in small details. This first-rate, philosophical journey, a terrific example of idea-driven SF, should have wide appeal. (June) FYI: Sawyer is the president of the Science Fiction Writers of America.

The TV series doesn't flashforward 20 years into the future, though.  Everyone flashes forward to April 29, 2010.  And the protagonist of the TV show is an FBI agent, not two scientists from CERN.

END OF SPOILERS!!!!!!

The evacuation centers are staying open all night.  The fire is not contained yet & firefighters have left the South Ashland fire to work on the East Medford fire.

Yes, I plan to sample it this week.

BK, a new show with allegedly a complex storyline a la LOST. It comes on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC.

A friend of mine watched it and loved it. I didn't record it, but I can watch it On Demand, and plan to tomorrow, especially since as of right now, I have no work project for tomorrow.

I watched last night's MAD MEN episode. Wow, those were certainly some interesting developments. Always surprises on this show. It doesn't always go where one expects.

Then I watched tonight's HEROES two-hour premiere. They've set the new season in motion with a decent enemy and the heroes spread out all over living separate lives just as in season one. I know they're hoping that by slowly bringing them together to fight their mutual enemy a la Season One that the show can recapture the very large audience it had during the first season. Time will tell if they're able to do that.

As for this episode, some of the stories bored me to tears (Hiro's) while I could have spent the entire show with Peter. I liked Matt's attempts to resist his power, too.

I just read that Fox has given GLEE a full season pick-up. That means 22 episodes now instead of the previously contracted 13.

Great news!

Now I guess I'll head downstairs and get ready for bed. I was up very late last night, so I'm eager to get to sleep much earlier tonight.

Good night!

The church alarm went off and I am the first contact. It's very dark outside.

When did the cops get to be young enough to be my son?

Good Evening!

Well...

I somehow ended up out/up on City Island with a fellow pianist, a vocal coach from the Met and his soprano-wife for dinner a few hours ago.  It was a truly unexpected wonderful evening.  Good food, cheap beers, lots of laughs and great people!

*And to cap the evening off, we were serenaded by the 77-year old proprietress of the Arthur Avenue Cafe.  A truly beautiful voice, and a lovely women.  -And she even provided us with shots of something called "del Capo" - a liquer of "29 Calabrian herbs".  Salut!

Which means the "Glee" cast will be heading back to L.A. after they get back from their current promotional tour in Australia.  -Which also means that Matthew Morrison will not be stepping back into South Pacific for a short stint when Kelli O'Hara starts back.  Ah, well.

DR elmore - Sorry to hear about your bus woes earlier.  -Is there a reason you don't take the subway more regularly?  Yes, the kids take the subway too, but at least you'd get down to Chelsea faster.

*And, remember, with President Obama in town this week for the opening week of the U.N. traffic in midtown is going to be slow-going for the next couple of days due to all the street closures.   It's even affecting the business of the food trucks. ;)
