Ginny - I'd say it's an OK walk to and from 48th & 11th during daylight hours based on my experience, but coming back at night, please plan on cabbing to the hotel even if it's close enough that you are tempted to walk.

Just watched episode one of season three's Mad Men.  Didn't like the opening, loved Bryan Batt and that business, hate the Brits in the office, and found some of the writing very weak - and after being thrown out of his house and having to be contrite and finally being allowed back in and with wife pregnant, I continue to think Mr. Draper is one of the most repellent characters in all of television - he had to cheat on her again - unbelievable.

I'm in the same court as BK on the Roman Polanski debacle.
Vanity Fair did an interview with the victim, who forgave Polanski his actions.
There was a recent HBO documentary which was quite un-biased, more of a just the facts on both sides piece which showed (to me, at least) that the judge in the case was out for publicity, and a possible higher political status.
Polanski did his time.
The victim is no longer playing "The Victim."
What other punishment does Polanski need?

I'm not saying he needs to go to jail. I was shocked he was arrested.  I'm saying what he did was very wrong & not to be casual about it.  To me playing "the victim" sounds as if what he did wasn't a big deal.

Someone else agrees with me his arrest could lead to his freedom ;D

I think the young lady abused by Polanski is a very special person.

I believe if forced back here he will not be convicted, likely not even go to trial, and he will have the freedom to come and go as he pleases again.

I think it is ridiculous the Swiss arrested him.

I will not call what he did acceptable, no matter how much time has passed.  I know too many women very scarred by sexual abuse as children.  Just because they learn to handle it & cope with it as adults doesn't mean they aren't deeply hurt from the experience.  I don't believe anyone ever gets over being raped.

I agree... The true test is how one can move and re-build their lives and that is not easy task within itself.

ARGH!!!

I guess a football game went over by 15 minutes, so "The Amazing Race" - at least here on the East Coast" will now be running over by 15 minutes... Which means I'll probably have to delay watching "Mad Men" until 11:00pm in order to keep the DVR happy.

Sounds interesting.  Keith is working on a genealogy CD for our 2 grand nephews.  He is currently researching sides of the family not related to us.

Now that he has gone vegan I don't think so, unless he met up with his baseball playing friends & they surprised him.

On my fourth of the Mad Men episodes - so far, I'm thinking I like season two the best - this one, while having some good scenes, hasn't really clicked with me so far, and I really got a little irritated with the marijuana scene, although I do love Elizabeth Moss.  I want to just shoot the father character (January Jones' father), and many of the characters continue to be totally repellent.  I want more Bryan Batt.
