Topic of the Day:

I really like her (first) Broadway album, the soundtrack to "Yentl," and...
TOD:

....But out of everything, I most enjoy the first disc of her JUST FOR THE RECORD collection, which featured live recordings from very early in her career.  It's amazing to her Streisand when she took risks with her voice and riffed and trilled and scat through her songs.  It's a joy to hear her sing on these tracks opposed to the mannered perfectionist she later became.

Ditto. :D

(Even MattH might take a second glance)

People in TAO actually heard of it and it's on the list of shows to consider for the future. ;D

I think DR GEORGE did that show, only maybe not with that cast.

No, we did Nite of the Living Dead! The Musical!

Yes, DR Jose, it's precisely a Mexican lasagna and it went together very easily.  It's quite pretty, with the red and green peppers and yellow corn.  I hope it's OK that I used Newman's Own salsa instead of the brand called for in the recipe.  That's what I had on hand.  It's in the oven and should start smelling very good any time now.

Well, it seems that the LATIMES has been speaking with MattH:
....

der Brucer

No one there contacted me, but I would have said EXACTLY the same thing. I wish she'd return on a recurring basis for the show. She's a perfect fit for it.

I also liked The New York Times' "Glee" Watch today:

‘Glee’ Watch: Upstaged by Kristin Chenoweth

YES!  The NY Times also questioned the suitability of the Carrie Underwood number for a high school ensemble.  I don't feel so fogey-ish any more.

I'm back from a long day. The reading went well, and we'll finish th score and most of the new things tomorrow morning by noon. The cast will come in after the lunch break to go through the score with the band. I thought my work sounded part and parcel of the original orchestrations, although I do have one fix to make in linking up the new intro of the Entr'Acte wth the original arrangement of "If this Isn't Love."

As to my bathroom ceiling, it's still falling in; I came home to find plaster everywhere and another wet ceiling. I called my neighbor who said that his ceiling is also falling in, and that means the leak is coming from the 5th floor. I am not happy about this.

I also got a message from the NYCGMC chorus musical director who wants to have a sit-down about this whole situation involving the "Appalachian Carols." The problem is, I don't know when, given the fact I will be at the theatre a lot next week. Maybe Sunday.

DR ArnoldBrockman, sorry about your health but very happy ro read about the trip and to know you will be taking care of the problem soon.

Not sure if anyone else posted this (sorry if it's a duplicate), but if not, here ya go:  Amazon has a "secret" discount code on Snow White.  Enter:  snowhite (one w) at checkout and get $10 off.  You can get the regular BD edition for $14.99 that way.  Since Tuesday is my birthday, I splurged and got the big boxed set for $139.99 after the discount.

Back from picking up one lonely package and a sandwich at Jerry's Deli.  I shall now endeavor to finish these liner notes, then I'll go watch a motion picture.

The package contained a DVD I bought on eBay - a home grown DVD of a film that is the second half of the two-fer that we're doing - I've never seen it before, so at least I'll be able to write about it now.  The guy threw in tons of extra stuff - The Crimson Kimono and five other DVDs labeled bonus extra.  We'll see what's on those.

A person I know is doing this show in Austin this month.  I already have made reservations.

Is it any good?

I've never seen the show, but I like the off-Broadway cast CD.

And the season premiere of PRIVATE PRACTICE. I am anxious to see this after the cliff-hanger last season.

Me, too!

The Mexican lasagna was quite well-received and we have lots left over.  Wish DR Elmore could have been here to enjoy it with us!

Evil Dead The Musical.

The first three rows of audience members were given plastic tarps to put over them because so much blood splattered from the stage.  The individuals chairs were also covered in plastic slipcovers to protect the fabric from all of the splatters.

It was actually a lot of fun.
