BK AND THE HOLY GRAIL
« on: October 03, 2009, 12:20:56 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Holy Grails, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently searching for their Holy Grail, but they're not telling what it is.

I'm listening to the radio concert that François posted about yesterday.  Thanks for posting it, François.  I love Kim Criswell!! :D

Taras Bulba is in my hands.  I didn't open it yesterday, I am trying to decide if I want to listen to it, or keep it sealed for an investment.  Time will tell.

Most intrigued by MR BK's description of the CD release.  A two-cd release for $23.95 would be fine.

Has the information about the 3-score CD from the other company been posted anywhere?

TOD:

Hmmmmmmmmmm.......for many years I have wanted a few scores on CD....and got them.

Harlow by Neal Hefti
Attack of the 50 Foot Woman by Ronald Stein
April Love with Mr Pat Boone and Miss Shirley Jones
State Fair with Mr Boone and Ann-Margret

So.................I guess a few of the scores from Albert Glasser:

Attack of the Puppet People
Amazing Colossal Man
Earth vs the Spider
Monster from Green Hell

Anything else I might mention, probably HAS been released on CD, I just don't know it.

I also would like an official release of Nelson Riddle's score of Carol Lynley's Harlow.

Saturday morning greetings!  Richard is off to London (Ohio, not England) for some clergy continuing education and I have some Middfest responsibilities today.  I'm scheduled in the Sponsor Lounge from 2-4 - we greet donors and make sure they get their appreciation gifts and some refreshments.  I'm going a little early to visit the history exhibit and to hear Jim McCutcheon play guitar in the City Commission chambers.  I'll also meet up with our houseguest - an Indonesian photographer who's studying at Ohio University on a Fulbright scholarship.  He's speaking in the religion exhibit today and tomorrow, along with several other grad students and their professor.

Good morning, all! I slept in an extra hour because I needed it. At 10:30 I meet Bruce Pomahac at Penn Station for our trip to Philadelphia, so I will be E&T until my return tonight, hopefully around 9 pm. I'm looking forward to seeing Mr Pomahac, my other favorite Bruce, and we always have a good time when we travel together. I'll catch up on all of his gossip and tell him about the Finian Expereince, which I am enjoying immensely. The concert today is an operetta one, so he and I will have a great time. I'm taking him a recording by Trude Rittman's composition teacher from the Cologne Conservatory, and I'm sure we will talk about her today as well. God bless her soul. She was a beautiful lady I still miss.

Today, my September rent check cleared. Finally! It only took two weeks from dropping it into the post box to the landlord's cashing it. I'm happy to know it finally arrived, but now I've got this damned health insurance premium to worry about since so funds have arrived yet to cover it. Perhaps in today's mail.

Tomorrow, I've got to fret over a couple of fixes in the Finian scores: I've got one dance piece that begins well, ends gloriously, and falls apart completely for two measures in the middle. I still havent figured out if it's me or the players, who've been having a bit of intonation problems, but I think its me, so I have to adjust it to make myself and everyone happy. I've also got a fix to make in the Entr'Acte, but this one was a collaborative error!

DR Elmore - enjoy your getaway today!  I hope when you get back you have a mailbox full of checks and the inspiration you need for the middle of the dance number.

DR elmore3003 - I know several people that are currently enrolled at the Vocal Arts Academy.  They're probably not involved in your concert, though.

Oh, and TOD:  one of my Holy Grails for a film score would be Dave Grusin's for On Golden Pond, which was released on LP but never complete on CD.

Good morning!

Cool but not as cool this morning as some previous mornings this week. It's going to be like this for the next several days, and no rain in the forecast until Tuesday. Should be a pretty weekend.

I'll be working on MEDIUM today, and with luck I should finish by this afternoon or early evening leaving the rest of the evening free. If THE WIZARD OF OZ arrives today, I'll watch that tonight. If not, I'll watch some of this barrage of TV shows cluttering my DVR.

At lunch today, I'll probably watch GREY'S ANATOMY. I have a bunch of shows to pick from, but I think it will likely get picked first.
