Had a great day of leisure viewing. I didn't get the Blu-rays from Fox. I didn't get FLASHPOINT, so I felt free to watch anything I wanted.

I did get the next Criterion release, 'Z,' (sadly, only on DVD and not Blu-ray), but it doesn't come out until the 27th of the month, so I thought it was a bit early to tackle it. However, if the Blu-rays don't come tomorrow, I will go ahead and do it, just to keep from having too large of stack of discs waiting to be watched and reviewed.

DR Jane: re: the flu shot.

My sister mentioned that here they are doing 2 flu shots this year. One for the swine flu in oct/nov and then the regular flu shot in january.

I still have not heard when they are starting the shots for my area. I need to check that out.

January, when does flu season begin there?  It seems kind of late.

I didn't mind the MAD MEN episode quite as much as some others.  I do like it better when we are at Sterling Cooper for most of the action.

Betty had obviously seen LA DOLCE VITA and a couple of other Italian films - she looked quite au courant in her black outfit with the hair all teased up.  And I like how Don pretended to pick her up.  I also liked her Jackie Kennedy pink outfit when they first arrived.  The Pete story - only there I guess to get him to Bonwit Teller to find Joan - who looked fabulous, but needs to get back to S/C as quickly as possible.

Betty was fabulous.  I was wondering if they would bring Joan back to S/C to take over for the woman who caused the riding lawn mower "incident."  She certainly isn't staying. ;)

I began by watching the documentary on Victor Fleming on disc 2 in THE WIZARD OF OZ set. Quite a resume of films with his name attached. I enjoyed seeing some of those clips again reminding me to watch some of the full length features.

They started seasonal flu shots in September here. Swine flu will begin as soon as they get them -- a couple of weeks or so.

They will undoubtedly find some way for Joan to rejoin S/C. She's far too valuable an asset to the firm (AND THE SHOW) to lose her at Bonwit's. However, I disagree that we only were clued in to Pete's dress dilemma to find out about Joan. I think the dress business and the nanny dalliance planted a seed for the beginning of the end of his marriage. He's screwing around in his own apartment building, and the neighbors know it. Don't think for a minute it won't come back to that spoiled wife of his.

I watched last night's CASTLE while I ate lunch. Pretty good episode, and they certainly fooled me in terms of the murderer's identity. I was going in a completely different direction.

While setting up my shows to record tonight, I happened on the Biography episode for Shirley Jones. I reran it back to the beginning and began to watch it. Little did I know it was TWO hours long.

By the time it finished, I had selected the Blu-ray of the day to watch - THE PELICAN BRIEF.

I had the old DVD flipper disc, but hadn't watched it in years, so this was a great way to refamiliarize myself with the movie. But it is LONG! So, I only got about 95 minutes into it. I'll finish it when I go back down. It didn't appear to be a BD-J disc, so I may luck out and have it start back where I left off. That would be great if it happened.

Picture quality was fine without being stunning, but I LOVED the Dolby TrueHD track. The music sort of seemed to hover over me in places, something that NEVER happens with regular Dolby Digital audio tracks.

And I had forgotten how many famous names are in this cast (apart from the two stars, of course): Stanley Tucci (in a series of disguises and looking good enough to eat), Jake Weber, Anthony Heald, John Heard, John Lithgow, Cynthia Nixon, Robert Culp, and the ever-gorgeous Tony Goldwyn.

I did have time to skim through today's ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Fish was on hand, found out that Staci is pregnant (though she told him it wasn't his; she lied), and also did some ace police computer work.

I noticed that CBS has ordered 13 more episodes of FLASHPOINT. Added to the 9 unaired episodes they already have, they now have a complete season of the show they can air.

The problem is, they have a schedule with no weaknesses. Right now, every series (with the possible exception of Jenna Elfman's new comedy and GARY UNMARRIED) are operating at or above acceptable ratings for the time period where they've been placed.

They may try FLASHPOINT in NUMB3RS' timeslot just to see what it does in the ratings. NUMB3RS has been on long enough that it's getting expensive to produce, and FLASHPOINT would save them a lot of money if the ratings are the same.

I keep wishing that FlashPoint and FlashForward had titles that were more distinct.           :P

I've been entering the little Nudie fixes.  One of them involved moving a scene to another sequence and then writing a new tag to a musical number.  But once I did that it creates another problem in that the scene that follows, which used to work coming where it did, now needs some kind of segue to get to it - this sort of thing is maddening.  I have a call in to the Wechter boy to discuss.

A major online retailer has just sent me a SECOND copy of the WIZARD OF OZ set, and the invoice shows no charge.  Color me majorly confused--is this a birthday present?  :)  I'll have to call them and find out what's up.
