Just had lunch... About to pack, but first...

DR MattH - As for "FlashForward" - I think the question that is raised is whether or not their visions of the future already take into account any second guessing and attempts to change the future.

Well, it hasn't been explained to MY satisfaction, hence my questioning and confusion.

Good afternoon!

Got back a little while ago from my overnight trip. Pleased to say I suffered no discomfort from the long car trip, sitting in the theater for two hours, or sleeping in a bed other than my own.

However, I'm also planning on attending my college piano teacher's annual faculty recital. -I haven't seen nor heard her in years!  I'll probably cry as soon as she steps onto the stage.

Why?

Is her piano playing that bad?!

The Fox Blu-rays never did come, so I didn't have any work related projects pressuring me from having a good time on my trip. I did get WINGS OF DESIRE (the DVD version) today in the mail, but it's not going to be released until the first week of November, so it went to the bottom of the Criterion pile. I'll likely work on MONSOON WEDDING on Blu-ray tomorrow jsut so the stack of Criterions isn't so large.

THE SHADOW BOX was an ambitious play for them to choose and attempt to perform without first rate talent across the board. It wasn't a very successful show, but there were good elements in it, so I'm glad I saw it.

I wouldn't mind seeing that TV-movie version of it again. It must be close to 30 years since I saw it.

Since I have this evening free, I'll attempt to watch some of the many shows built up on my DVR from last night. I also recorded THE FOUR FEATHERS (the 1930s version) from TCM Friday morning. Believe it or not, I've never seen this movie and will watch it at some point tonight or tomorrow.

Back from the long jog and the Hollywood Show (as it's now called).  I'd guess Ray Courts is now completely out of the equation, since this was the first time he wasn't there at all (even after he sold the show he was there as an advisor).  As to the show, it just gives me a headache now.  Several long time dealers are no longer there.  The ones who are left are pathetic.  Now not only are the celebrities in the inside room, but they line every inch of the lobby and it's just too many and too confusing as to who is where, and when there are lines you'd really never find people.  I did say hello to neighbor Earl Holliman.  And I did buy Stan Freberg's autobiography, which he signed to me.  He looks very frail (he's eighty-two) where as Jackie Cooper, who must be well into his 90s, looks pretty good.  In the most shocking department, Sharon Farrell, who was so ridiculously cute and who now wins the Margot Kidder award for someone who does not in any way resemble their former selves.  Helen Slater looks great, and Debby Boone still looks very pretty.  Jeff Conaway is using a walker and looks nothing like he used to - and I believe he's younger than I am.  Billy Mumy looks like he always did.  Didn't see Debbie Reynolds but did spy Mickey Rooney, who just gives off such a weird vibe.  Jane Withers looked like she's looked for the last thirty years.  Bruce Dern looks pretty good.  Biggest line - Sean Astin.  And I have to imagine Mr. Cassidy will have a huge line tomorrow - so I don't know that I'll go back because I doubt I could get near him to say hey.  And frankly, the whole show seems like a circus and has none of the charm it once had, and it gives me the creeps a little and also a headache.

How did Bruce Kimmel look like?
Pretty good, I am sure! ;)

Well, Jeff Conaway is my age, even though a few months younger, hence younger than BK (But, obviously not as "wiser"!)...

I checked the internet and found that he has had BIG problems with drugs and booze!
Always sad to read.

In that regard, i saw a few recent interviews of Jan-Michael Vincent and I could not help but cry!
They say he was the Brad Pitt of his time; well, he's not anymore and it is so distressing to see what alcoolism does to human beings. He looks like a very old dejected man ...

Yes, there are these poster children for abusing drugs and alcohol.  They spend their lives doing so, believing it will never catch up to them, but it does, Blanche, it does.  If you saw Conaway now you would just be shocked.

I think one of the reasons I look okay and not like a decrepit old man is that I have never once had a drug and I don't drink.

DR Matt H, glad you had a good [& trouble-free] trip.

Thank you, DR DAW. Needless to say, it was a tremendous relief for me. Three months ago, I truly felt my traveling days were over. I couldn't even drive two blocks to the grocery store without serious pain.

Dear friend Shauna Hicks (whom we originally met by referral from BK) just put her reel on YouTube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fwtv4ZQ4oMc

If you have a chance to watch it and rate it if you love her reel as much as I do, it would be so great.

I lost my thank you list.  It must be in some tax return info somewhere.  :)

I'll find it and until I find it, thanks so much for all the anniversary wishes.

As for Jeff Conaway, I guess bk does not watch "Celebrity Rehab", or whatever that show on VH1 is called. Scary and depressing.
