Happy Anniversary, Fred & Skip.

Did the LORENZO musical say anything about him plagiarizing (or, more nicely, borrowing) large swaths of DON GIOVANNI?

Must try to get through these Warner catalog titles, WILLY WONKA, GHOST SHIP, and THE NUMBER 23, before we leave for Wisconsin.  BBL.

Can't find my thank-you list so I'll have to reconstruct it.  (And I had some witty stuff :)  on there, too.)

But for now, off to the LORD OF THE RINGS concertized version.  Turns out it's 300 musicians, including the chorus, not 300 orchestra members.  But it's still a lot of musicians, though.

Night all.

Off to a neighborhood revisiting prop 8 in 2010 / 2012 ballot discussion.  I'll be surprised if any pro prop 8 neighbors live here.

Had a marvelous evening of film and TV viewing.

I began with last night's MEDIUM, a somewhat different outing for the show in that the bad guy pretty much got away with his crimes. SOme interesting touches to the show, and the "Joe-looking-for-a-job" with help from Bridget was fun and involving.

Dear MattH, glad you had a nice mini vacation.  :)

I did, and the one day away was just right. I still have SO much to do here house-wise. But it was nice to let it go for a day and night.

Next I watched last night's GHOST WHISPERER. They REALLY drew out the BIG reveleation concerning Eli's parents (a bit too much in order to pad out the episode), but it was still an entertaining hour.

Then I watched IDIOT'S DELIGHT from the Warner Archive collection. It's an old VHS master, and the first third is low on contrast and with lots of speckles, scratches, and reel change markers. Thing improve later in terms of grayscale, but the sound is hissy throughout. Still, I hadn't seen the movie all the way through in a long, long time, so I was glad to see it again. Norma Shearer really does a grand job in it. 1939 ended up being a banner year for her with this and THE WOMEN to her credit. Sadly, it was the last year she had big hits to her credit.
