The actor who played the lead at the first table reading was someone the lyricist loved and had worked with - we saw no other real candidates at that time, and the author loved the kid's quality.  I warned both then that I knew he was not good enough to pull off the role, and that proved to be the case for about half the reading.  He's a good egg and a good singer, but any naturalness (essential in this character) always seems actory and forced.  When Patrick came in and read everyone knew immediately just how right I was.  I mean, they didn't even want to read other people at first and I told them I would not direct the show without having proper auditions for every role, and that means seeing more than one person.

Some of my advanced eighth graders used to snicker when we read "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" when Mrs. Mitty reminds Walter not to forget his rubbers. [sigh] The world was once so much more innocent.

Back from the mix fix - I did most of Brent's little one-word fixes - there were about five and we were able to do them easily.  I also made some adjustments for the MD, but those were very minor and I certainly left more than half his notes undone as they were completely weird and unnecessary and would have really harmed the album - Brent knew that.

I picked up a couple of packages and came home.  The street signs saying Tow Away are still in place even though not one single minute of work has occurred on the street, which I suppose will sit empty until six, at which point I will probably personally go out and rip these signs off the trees and posts.

Now, I must hop off-line so I can start writing up MIRACLE ON 34th STREET. Of course, I still have the bonus features to get through before prime time TV starts, so I must get crackin'!

Then they were ripe for the humor in Romeo and Juliet!

Thursday morning greetings!  It's cold and rainy here in SW Ohio today.

My sister (in Michigan) is having 2 out-patient procedures this morning and could use some vibes, too.

If anyone is looking for an inexpensive Blu-Ray player, www.woot.com has one today for $134.99.

I was thinking about this, but since Blu-Ray discs cost so much more than regular DVD discs, I'm gonna pass.  However, I did buy the Side Deal:  a 7-megapixel camera for only $29.95 (and $5 shipping)!  My digital camera went belly-up a few weeks ago and I need something.  This camera can record video (which my previous camera could also), but this can record the sound for the video, which my previous camera could not.  That alone makes it worth it for me. :)

I just hope that it's not a crap camera. ::)

Thanks, George (and Jeanne, earlier).  Her out-patient procedures were postponed and she was admitted to the hospital so they can figure out why she's had laryngitis for a week.

No. Isn't that weird? Do you think he really was in the balloon?

I've been wondering if it's a kid's prank.

Please add to you vibes list some extra for Papasaurus, who went into the hospital today with another of his many syncopal episodes. I'll head north to see him after work...

~ ~ ~ ~ ~VIBES FOR PAPASAURUS~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And many thanks for all the health vibes headed this way.
I took today to watch the third episode of FLASH FORWARD, I may watch the 4th episode 'live' tonight.
Last night I caught up with EASTWICK, not must-see-tv but the cast is so good that I may make it a habit.
Tonight is also SUPERNATURAL night.
I've just had a nice hot soak in the whirlpool, and after a cup of fresh coffee will take a tiny nap.

Miss Dixie Bell is loving the cold spell we're experiencing - she's been sitting in her fenced-in yard most of the day.

Two reviews for BBB are in, from The Wall Street Journal and New Jersey's The Record and Herald News, and both are not good for the three leads.

According to CNN, the kid's been found hiding in the attic. If I were his parents, he and his siblings would be grounded until they were 18.
