After listening to the bad edit several times I've decided to leave it as is - it was obviously done on purpose that way, and while my mastering guy smoothed it out so it sounded better, I just don't want to mess with it.

Thereby guaranteeing the complaint will be, "Why didn't he fix it?"   ;D

I am off to City Center; Josh Clayton, my adopted son, and I are going to put the music before the finale into full score, create a piano reduction, make fixes to it, play it over the phone to Rob Berman, our mighty MD who is involved with WHITE CHRISTMAS today, and once he's happy with it, rescore it and copy it into the parts. Josh is a great deal responsible for my being on FINIAN'S RAINBOW and he's playing the string synth for the show. He's become over the past couple of years my surrogate son and he and I are working on taking over the orchestration cartel.

I thought I was your adopted son.

You're the family pet.

Packing for NYC - is it really going to be in the 70s tomorrow and then turn cold?

it's quite warm today.

Good news! My edition of the vocal score for the Jerome Moross musical THE GOLDEN APPLE has just been published by Alfred Music!

The orchestra parts for the new finale intro say "Orchestrated by Larry and Joshie." I got to City Center around 2:45, and Josh and I looked at the orchestra parts for what was played last night and i put them into full score so I could make a piano reduction. Josh and i then dragged out every version of "How Are Things In Glocca Morra" in the FINIAN score and decided what we wanted to do. I wrote out a sketch and Josh played it and offered his opinions on alternate choices. Around 4:00 Josh orchestrated it, and 4:30 Rob called us to see how it was going and we played it for him. I took the newly printed Full Score and the orchestra parts over to the theatre so Rob and I could go over it. By 6 I was at 42nd and 10th Avenue boarding a bus for home. I've had a tuna melt, 3-bean salad and pickled beets for dinner, and I will watch GLEE and TOP CHEF before bed. Tomorrow I'll hear how the new inttro worked and hopefully hear it tomrrow night in performance.

That WOULD be fun, DR ELMORE!

And it looks like MEMPHIS got raves compared to BYE BYE BIRDIE.

KELLY got raves compared to BYE BYE BIRDIE.

LESTAT got raves compared to BYE BYE BIRDIE.

WHAT?   Was "LESTAT" not the most-reviled musical since "CARRIE"?  AND "BYE BYE BIRDIE" got worse reviews?

Who is Wil Wheaton?

Wil Wheaton is an actor, best-loved for his role as Ensign Wesley Crusher on "Star Trek: The Next Generation."  Wheaton was a teenager when this series was done and he was on the ship USS Enterprise with his mom, Dr. Beverly Crusher, the ship's physician.  Her late husband -- Wesley's father -- had been a great friend of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, captain of the Enterprise.  Wesley was a gifted lad and many of the show's best episodes were about him.

From wikipedia:

Wil Wheaton first read for the role in 1986.[citation needed]

Subsequently, in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation, the character of Wesley Crusher first arrived on the Enterprise-D with his mother, soon after Captain Jean-Luc Picard assumed command. Captain Picard was annoyed by Crusher at first – as Picard is uncomfortable around all children – but he comes to realize that Crusher understands many things beyond his age and has inherited his mother's high intelligence.

An alien Traveler expressed to Captain Picard, and was also told not to tell Dr. Crusher, that Wesley had a unique intelligence and great potential if provided encouragement and opportunity, comparing him to a child prodigy like Mozart. Picard soon appointed Crusher to an acting ensign.

In early episodes of the series, Picard did not allow Crusher on the bridge of the ship. Crusher eventually took the entrance exam for Starfleet Academy. His test score ranked lower than expected, and he was not accepted into the Academy in his first attempt. ("Coming of Age"). Later he missed his second chance to take the Academy entrance exam in order to assist the Enterprise-D crew in rescuing Will Riker, Deanna Troi, and Lwaxana Troi from hostile Ferengi. Picard soon granted him a field promotion to full ensign ("Ménage à Troi").

Crusher was invited to reapply the following year, took the exam, and was accepted into the Academy where he joined an elite group of cadets known as Nova Squadron. His involvement with this group nearly led to his being expelled from the Academy ("The First Duty"), when a squadron-mate was killed attempting a dangerous and prohibited flight maneuver and, under pressure from the team leader, Nick Locarno, Crusher abetted the squadron's efforts to cover up the truth. Although the crew's intervention and the boy's own testimony saved him from expulsion, all of Cadet Crusher's academic credits for the year were cancelled and he was required to repeat the year and graduate after most of the rest of his class. He remained in the Academy thereafter until the Traveler re-contacted him, whereupon he resigned his commission and went with the Traveler to explore other planes of reality ("Journey's End").

The back story states that Wesley Crusher is the son of Beverly Crusher and Jack Crusher.

Wheaton also played a key role (alongside River Phoenix) in the movie "Stand By Me."  Wheaton's character was the narrator, as well.

Last night I watched a William Castle film on TCM I had never seen before--MR SARDONICUS.  I remember seeing a full page pic of the villain's face in FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND and being totally freaked out.  I had no idea that this man's troubles all stemmed from his inability to just relax and chill.

we watched that as well - I was suprised and annoyed by  the man who "counted the vote" but Vixdad said it was  common and very popular practice in English movies of the time

Yes DR LAURA and DR DAW - I was on top of the bladder battle yesterday.  I was the boss, until about 6:30 this morning when it asserted itself and became the master again.  But it was a hard fought war.

Okay, when I formulate and market my bladder-control medication, I will have the perfect commercial ready:

A man is in a boxing ring going a tough round with his bladder.  The bell rings and both collapse into their corners, utterly exhausted by their battle.  Voice-over indicates that this is how it is with the other aggressive medications.  But with new PaxFlo, things are different--you make friends with your bladder.  This is accompanied by shots of the man and his bladder happily walking together through a park, then sitting next to each other at a movie or ball game, then finally in the bedroom, where the bladder is holding up the alarm clock it just set for 7:00 am and the man giving the "OK" sign and turning over and going to sleep with a smile on his face.

I think that sounds 30 second-able, doesn't it?
I love it!

We are both sitting here crying, having just finished watching a film called Miya of the Quiet Strength.  You can watch the preview here.

Miya was the younger sister of one of my closest friends at college.  She was the lone survivor of the November 1, 1991 University of Iowa shooting.  She fearlessly pushed past this setback to continue her activism until cancer claimed her life in 2008.  She was an amazing individual, and the film is truly inspiring.

ASK BK or any technophile

I was in Costco today and saw several Plasma Televisions for under $1000. Some in the $700. I know that Plasma Televisions are being discontinued, but at that price its almost to hard to pass up.

Should I consider them or buy and LCD or LED?
