I ended up watching 11 episodes of THE GUARDIAN today. SOme of the acting was poor in supporting roles and some of the plots get resolved rather abruptly. Still, it's an enjoyable show so far. I'll be curious to see how the second half of the season goes.

I skimmed through today's ATWT. Nothing of interest and nothing in the previews for tomorrow either.

GLEE was simply wonderful. It was a great showcase episode for Matthew Morrison, and Puck got to have a solo finally which I enjoyed.

It's getting close to 10:25; I wonder how the new finale underscore is going tonight?

Oh!... It just keeps getting better(?)....

My friend just called me about the concert he played tonight.  First of all, the concert ended up starting about 40 minutes late, and the house staff eventually just ended up letting everyone who was still waiting to get into the hall without tickets in hand. -Which is probably what the should have done in the first place since most everyone was being comped.

It also turned out that their was a change in order of the pieces for tonight's concert.  Of course, he didn't realize that until he was backstage and started hearing some "familiar" music.  -And he had even checked with one of the stage managers beforehand to double-check the order for tonight's concert! Thankfully, he was able to sneak on stage and join the piece about a minute or two into it.

YIKES! and WHEW!

I am off to City Center; Josh Clayton, my adopted son, and I are going to put the music before the finale into full score, create a piano reduction, make fixes to it, play it over the phone to Rob Berman, our mighty MD who is involved with WHITE CHRISTMAS today, and once he's happy with it, rescore it and copy it into the parts. Josh is a great deal responsible for my being on FINIAN'S RAINBOW and he's playing the string synth for the show. He's become over the past couple of years my surrogate son and he and I are working on taking over the orchestration cartel.

I thought I was your adopted son.

You're the family pet.

Well, I guess a "black sheep" could be a pet.

Bananas/Sex/Sleeper, wonderful hour to listen and relax.  ;D

Saw the Preservation Hall Jazz Band at Royce Hall at about the same time.  Still remember that evening.

That WOULD be fun, DR ELMORE!

And it looks like MEMPHIS got raves compared to BYE BYE BIRDIE.

KELLY got raves compared to BYE BYE BIRDIE.

LESTAT got raves compared to BYE BYE BIRDIE.

WHAT?   Was "LESTAT" not the most-reviled musical since "CARRIE"?  AND "BYE BYE BIRDIE" got worse reviews?

Yes.

Thank You, DR vixmom.  It wasn't a bad evening, just an annoying one.  -And at least I didn't "miss an entrance" like my friend did. ;)

Back from delivering a big box o' CDs to the local dealer.  I don't know if I'll watch anything or not - just not really in the mood.  I AM in the mood to eat something, but I had that damn big sandwich earlier and didn't jog, so maybe not.

Does anybody here know why Mia Michaels has left SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?

She's my favorite choreographer on the show. ANd it just seems so sudden. Apparently the vegas shows were her last.

I'm especially surprised because she's been a judge on SYTYCD canada (as recently as last week). And she's choreographed numbers (last week) and i believe on sunday's finale.

I wonder if she had some kind of contractual disagreement.

Well, the finale underscore had a problem with one player or a section - Josh was uncertain what the hell happened - miscounting and screwing it up. Tomorrow it will be lovely. The producers want to freeze the show on Friday, so I hope the cue goes well tomorrow night. I'm sure none of the producers was amused by the surprising dissonances at a touching moment.

I think she just wants to do more of her own work, and not be restricted to choreographing in 2-4 minute segments.  A friend of mine works for a dance studio that she teaches at here in NYC, and he's noticed that she's scheduled to teach more classes and workshops this season. She may be leaving the show, but she's not leaving the business.  It simply may have been time for her to leave the show and move on to something new.  -And she did express that this past season was not one of her favorites, with not choreographing as often as she used to as one of her "complaints".

Am I sensing a 7:00pm call for the orchestra?

...And by not staying around for the concert, I was able to get home in time to watch "Glee" and "Top Chef: Las Vegas" live.  Not a bad evening at all.
