DR Cillaliz - I'm so sorry to hear about your nephew's illness and hope he recovers soon without passing it along to Gabe.

Thanks DR Ginny

The Triffids conquered the UK and there were some wonderful moments before John Duttine and his family relocated to the Isle of Wight. I expected more chills, though. I read the novel around 40 years ago and I have no memory of it. This version seems to be closer to the book than the Howard Keel film.

That's my news. I think now I will watch some of Seaon 3 of IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA.

We all had the flu many years ago when the kids were in preschool. All at the same time. It was awful.

And never again?  You too are very lucky.  I've had it way too many times in my life.  I admit it has been a few years now and I hope it stays that way.

Speaking of flu, we had a funny thing happen at Junior's today.  Richard was wearing a clerical collar and, when asked his name by the host, said "Father Palmer."  We sat down to wait for our table and a couple came in with the husband wearing a surgical mask and gloves.  They had a long conversation with the host about their "requirements" and were seated immediately.  We laughed over the fact that, apparently, a mask & gloves can trump a clerical collar.

DRs Jrand and CIllaliz you should put the name of the show in big letters in case someone like DR Mbarnum reads HHW before watching TAR. You mentioned who was not eliminated at the end.

You mean to say that DR MBarnum can read?
(No, I am not DR elmore! ;))

He can only read if it's printed large and in crayon.

I have only seen the movie version - and not all the way through.  Didn't read the book....so this is intriguing to me. Maybe I should read the book first.

I don't think DR MBARNUM scares about spoilers.  Knowing the end doesn't bother me either - it's a television show.

I agree and have said so on numerous occasions.

I watched all of the HOWARDS END bonus features. There weren't a huge number of them, but two of the documentaries were each almost an hour long, so it was a nice comprehensive look at HOWARDS END and at the Merchant-Ivory team and their previous films, too.

As for "The Amazing Race"...

I just wanted to veg out tonight, not watch anything new, so I put back in the BONES season five Blu-ray, and watched three episodes. Yes, I just watched them about a week ago, but this time I got to kick back and enjoy them without having a pad and pen in my lap taking notes. I just jumped around two different discs, and had a wonderful time with them.

I agree totally. The show has been on long enough that these contestants should know what they're putting themselves in for.

Makes me wonder if the couple who just started dating were really getting along that well.  But I do agree with you

DR George - sounds great.  I hope you enjoy this as much as we've enjoyed the HD broadcasts from the Met!!

I thoroughly enjoyed the opera cinema of "Don Giovanni."  We were told that it was filmed in hi-def and burned onto a Blu-Ray disc and that's what was shown.  It was as good (to me) as the Met hi-def broadcast.  What is better about seeing opera at the WCPA is that they served mimosas (not that I care). ;)

Then I watched tonight's DEXTER episode. SOme tedious stuff with Dexter and his suspicious wife, but the rest of the episode was solid.

Right now, my plans are to take tomorrow off. Fox could spoil those plans by sending ICE AGE 3 a day early before it streets, but I feel pretty confident that won't be happening. I have some review discs that are being put in the mail for me tomorrow, but they won't get here before WEdnesday at the earliest, so looks like an easy early part of the week.

'night

Thanks, DR Jane.  Since our flight Tuesday isn't until 4:30pm we'll have 2 more full days here and they'll be filled with friends.  Lunch tomorrow with DR Ben & Ant, dinner with Doug & Jon (Doug and I went to high school and college together), and lunch Tuesday with DRs Elmore and Jose.
