Last night, I saw BK's close and personal friend, "Stephen Sondheim and Frank Rich in Conversation" in Seattle!  I didn't get an autograph and my question was not answered, and this is the only picture that I was able to get:

BUT I LOVED IT!! ;D Also, before the "Conversation," I saw yesterday's Birthday Boy DR Jed and his very lovely wife, DR Ann in the lobby!  And I agree with Jed...I wish that they could've gone on for another hour, too!

Thanks, Jane, I did have a wonderful time!

Jose, thanks for the story about Terri White.  The one time that I went to New York (1995), I recognized her when she was working at 88's and I got her autograph.  That was pretty cool. :D

Well, I guess I'm up - I got up at 4:45 after some really weird dreams, and I tried going back to sleep but couldn't.  I think I'll go lay down again in a little while and see what happens - three hours of sleep isn't enough.

And I've been up since about 4:30 a.m.   Variious things on my mind make it impossible to sleep any longer.  Busy week ahead of me still.

It's strange INHERE today.

Good morning, all! I have the laundry in the washers, and while it's in the dryers I will mop the bathroom and vacuum the apartment. Around noon, DR Ginny and Richard will show up with their luggage and go to lunch with me and our DR Jose. Then, when I've seen them off to LaGuardia, I will get soem writing on the 2nd volume of BABES IN TOYLAND. I feel it's important we finish this show completely before we proceed with anything else, and we have THE LADY OF THE SLIPPER and OH, BOY! in production and on hold for a bit.

DR Jose, thanks for the article on Terri. I knew none of that and I am so happy for her because she's such a beautiful and wonderful lady. I'm going to the theatre tonight to drop off a couple of CDs for Rob and to make sure I don't miss next Sunday's commitment ceremony. Josh Clayton is playing for it.

DR George, I'm glad you had a great evening with Mr Sondheim. We're not as close as we were when I got him the Pulitzer, but I'm sure he was a very congenial speaker last night.

TOD:  The most brilliant dancing I believe I've had the pleasure of seeing on film was in "Broadway Melody of 1940" -- Eleanor Powell and Fred Astaire doing a tap routine (and it's anything BUT "routine") to "Begin the Beguine".

Great choices elmore.  Small House is a perfect example of exquisite and unique choreography and dancers who realize that choreography uniquely and perfectly.  I've seen King and I many times on stage and the ballet is always danced well, but those originals?  Never topped.  And I'd say the situation with choreography and even dancers in revivals in the last decade (this current crop) is when it's gotten the worst it's ever been.  None of these people working today, Mitchell, Ashford, whoever, knows or understands building a number to a frenzy, or crafting something exquisite with specific dancers (the Bolero in Follies, the dance partners in Grand Hotel).

Tuesday morning greetings!  We are enjoying our last morning in our apartment after Richard decided against going to St. Mary's for morning prayer.  He crawled back into bed and said, "Even the dogs are wearing raincoats!"

We are, indeed, going to schlep our luggage to the UWS and have our last NYC meal (this time around, anyway) with DRs Elmore and Jose.

Ginny, I'm very glad Anthony was able to escort you and Richard and provide you with a tour of our neighborhood and park. It's very lucky that it was yesterday and not today.

When I left the apartment at 6am for work there was nary a drop but when I went out for coffee at 7:15 it was raining! Everyone is coming into the office with dripping umbrellas.

Yes, Ben, if we had to have 2 rainy days during our stay, Saturday and today are the least intrusive on our plans.  I wonder if there'll be any flight delays....

We appreciate all the travel vibes that came our way last night and earlier this morning.

And, DR DAW, thanks for the tip about the VB shop.  You sure don't see many places here in Manhattan that sell it, but you do see quite a bit being carried.

DR Jane, you mentioned that you and Keith love THE GOOD WIFE.  I've said it before, but I agree. I really did not think i would love this show, since i'm not a huge fan of the star.  But it is so enjoyable!

Btw, apparently it is a repeat tonight! :(

Nice article DR JOSE - thanks for posting the link.

MR BK's notes were most fun to read today.  And I couldn't agree more.  Maybe some of it is that the dancers in the public eye are not chosen now for their training - or they don't consider it important to have any training.

Watching SYTYCD convinces me that there are trained dancers and wonderful choreographers out there.  Matching them up and getting them a platform is not so easy.  Locally we have a couple of good dance companies - Dance Kaleidoscope being the best one - but also some very BAD dancing going on as well.  And I am not sure about the theatre choreography because - well - is it the lack of imagination of the choreographers OR the lack basic skills training for the dancers?  And so many local theatres use Dance Teachers as choreographers, so the numbers look more like Aunt Ludie's dance recital than anything that belongs to whatever show it is stuck into.
