I remember seeing BIG's "Food of the Gods" at a drive-in right after we moved here to Olympia from Colorado in 1976.  We also saw "Empire of the Ants" at that same drive-in...which was torn down a few years later.

The "butter" aspect is about the "friction" between Paula Deen and Barbara Walters, when Paula Deen was on THE VIEW several weeks back, and Barbara Walters made some surprising comments about Paula Deen contributing to childhood obesity.

Jose, I know we were saying the other night over dessert that the event itself on THE VIEW really wasn't much of anything - but searching on google seems to show that it really did get blown up in the innernet press, so it seems very ripe for making fun of it WITHOUT (I hope) anyone really taking offense. 


Hope my take on it  makes you laugh if you have time to watch.

Your mention of VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS brought back some memories.

I don't think I ever saw the picture.  At least, not all of it.

But, one of the stars [Charla Doherty] was my lady friend for a couple of years.

She died too young.

Good morning, all! I am getting very jittery about the Big Opening Night tonight and the Partay afterward. Thank you all for the good wishes and thoughts. This morning I have to wrap several opening night gifts and buy several cards. I just moved my physical therapy from this afternoon to tomorrow: after the last session my shoulder ached the rest of the day and I do not want to be uncomfortable tonight.

BK, I loved the tale of dinner with Mr BIG. I don't remember seeing that many of his films as a kid. I saw EARTH VS THE SPIDER several times at the drive in, as well as several I didn't much care for - THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN, WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST, and THE CYCLOPS. The one I wanted to see but didn't for 40 years was THE MAGIC SWORD. I don't think I've seen any other films of his.

It's going to be a beautiful day here. Nippy and wonderful for my walk this morning, and the afternoon temps peeking into the 70s. I'll be inside for most of it (except for lunch), but it's still beautiful.

Well, I guess my favorite producer/director of B movies would be Roy William Neill who helmed most of the Universal/Sherlock Holmes pictures. They're BY FAR my favorite B-movies of all-time.

I wouldn't be surprised if those Disney/Pixar Blu-rays arrived today, but I'll be finishing the Hitchcock box I'm working on today, so I won't be able to get to UP! until tomorrow unless I can breeze my way through the two remaining Hitchcock pictures in record time. Then I'd at least watch the movie portion of the UP! set tonight. The bonuses will likely take hours to get through like with most Pixar releases.

Bert I Gordon is at the very top of my list, of courrse. I have loved his movies since I was a little kid. EARTH VS. THE SPIDER, WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST and ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE being my top 3 favorites of his films.

Roger Corman: His films from the 1950s are among my all time favorites. THE UNDEAD, MONSTER FROM THE OCEAN FLOOR, VIKING WOMEN AND THE SEA SERPENT, TEENAGE DOLL...

Homi Wadia: From the 1930s through the 1970s this guy made some of the most wonderful Bollywood films ever...all of the Fearless Nadia pictues, dozens of colorful mythologicals and Arabian Nights films, all of the Zimbo films, and many Indian sword and sandal pictures. His films are gaining quite a fan base in the US and UK as they are slowly being released onto DVD and VCD.

Ratings sweeps start tonight, so most shows will be in their usual spots with new episodes unless they're being preempted by the World Series (BONES/FRINGE) or specials.
