What was the last B'way show/play to have a tableau curtain call?  I don't know the answer--just wonderin'.  Probably something artsy-fartsy like METAMORPHOSES...

Another clip from King of Jazz. It had some very impressive effect for its time and was a very early color film using the 2 color Technicolor process.  I hope one day the full-length version will be re-released.

I really should see PARADE one day, since the story is so close to home. Beside Mary Phagan being buried across the street from our house in Marietta, I met my ex-husband when he was playing in a club on the site where the lynching took place. (Didn't know it at the time.) And the families of the lynch mob are some of Marietta's most prominent citizens!

That should have told me something right there!

DR JRand59, everyone in the curtain call is wearing their costumes from the wedding scene before Sharon is sentenced to be burned at the stake for witchcraft, a Harburg dig at the ultra-conservative mindset I really love; the show ends at the "Crack of Dawn" wherein, like good Shakespeare, all plots are resolved. At last night's curtain call all of the swings -  Brian Sears, Lauren Lim Jackson, Grasan Kingsberry, and Elisa van Duyne - took a bow as well. I think that's really wonderful.

But weren't the "Follies" numbers in The Will Rogers Follies based on 'previous' follies numbers?  I mean, I know I had seen a "hand dance" before TWRF.

Well, he did the hand dance stuff in A DAY IN HOLLYWOOD only his cast was much smaller. Same effects, though, just with fewer people.

I watched PROJECT RUNWAY before I headed out on my Friday errands. I would have reversed the placement of the bottom two. Like DR Ron Pulliam, I loved to see the winner triumphant and the "killer" stares the second place finisher was giving the winner.

When I got in, I watched THE MENTALIST while eating lunch. I guessed the murderer easily, but I nevertheless enjoyed the show even though I can't believe the team "couple" is going to risk this. Should make for interesting future episodes.

Then I watched all of the bonus documentaries on the second disc in the UP package. All of them were interesting featurettes showing the genesis and development of all the major aspects of the movie.

There were also some hilarious promo blackout sketches using the major characters that I played twice becasue I loved them so much.

I then watched some BONES episodes on the recent Blu-ray release just to relax a little this afternoon. I'm going to have to start my new review project later this evening, so I wanted some time to just veg out. BONES is excellent for that, pure pleasure for me.

I did skim through today's wonderful episode of ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Great stuff with Kyle, Nick and especially Fish. Very much enjoyed those scenes.
