Ok, found my very first post: 04/27/2003 01:51 PM PST

The day's notes were titled: CHILLER II

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Michael Barnum and I am a freelance writer and State of Oregon employee. I have been reading your (Bruce's) notes regarding Chiller over the last few days! Wow, what fun! What I would give to have been there! I have attended the Ray Court's show in North Hollywood and I know what fun these conventions can be...and how much money I tend to spend at them!!! Uhg!
I am new to Haineshisway (and what does that mean anyhow? Sounds as though someone was having troubles putting on their knickers! LOL!) and have found that a few pals of mine are regulars around here! So a big hello to my buddy Jack Randall Earles, with whom I share a love of all things Allison Hayes and who has been trying to get me to check out this web-site for some time, and who also never fails to crack me up with his witty e-mails which keep me amused while toiling away at my cubicle at work; and another big hello to lovely, adorable Susan Gordon, the woman I have interviewed, chatted with, and always enjoy hearing from, and who appears in my #1 fave ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE, or simply AOPP.
Thanks for letting me stop by! Bruce, I hope you had a pleasent trip home, and I look forward to finding out more about all of the very interesting people who post here!

So, we can blame DR JRand59 for this abomination against humanity?

Oy, in a weak moment I agreed to fill in as secretary of the grantwriters' group for a few months.  It's a lot of work!  I've spent most of the evening getting the templates set up for the chapter and board meeting minutes that I will have to take tomorrow.

Now I'm going to watch "Trauma" with my family.

Has anyone read the first two books in the Millennium Series by Steig Larsson?  I've read the first two and now want to read the third book, "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest".  I just found out while the last book won't be released here until May, 2010 it has been released in the UK & possibly Canada.  I'm shocked our release date is later.

DR Jennifer can you tell me if the book has been released in your part of the world, in English.  You might already have it in French.

Amazon says I can pre-order the hardcover or get the paperback shipped from the UK.

re: last night's BROTHERS & SISTERS

I forgot to mention that I watched BROTHERS & SISTERS before I headed out to lunch. Tommy was back for a one episode visit. The Luc storyline was ridiculous. The father is remarried and the mom is worried the kids will freak out because she's dating? The logic escapes me.

Kevin and Scotty had unecessary drama with their surrogate.

Uncle Saul catches Ryan rifling through Holly's desk and kind of shrugs it off after the kid feeds him a slick snake oil explanation.

In other words, I found last night's episode pretty infuriating.

Does anybody recognize the surrogate michelle. She is played by Roxy Olin (currently on MTV's THE CITY). She is the daughter of Ken Olin and Patrica Wettig (who are both on BROTHERS & SISTERS).

DR MattH i disagree with you re: sarah being careful with introducing luc to her kids.

He's not even really her boyfriend. She is just recently divorced. What should she have done? Moved him into their house right away? It doesn't matter what her ex does. I think that most people in her situation wouldn't even introduce the kids to anyone unless it was a serious relationship. JMO.

What i found unrealistic was the daughter (paige's reaction). I seriously doubt that any little kid is gonna want her mother's boyfriend moving in. And i also found her saying he could stay in the guest room to seem too mature for a kid her age to say.

If he's not even her boy friend, what had she to fear? Can't have it both ways.

I mentioned Roxy Olin LAST WEEK when she first appeared and that the Olins were bringing the whole family on board the show (the son is a staff writer already).

If I'm not mistaken, Roxy appeared in season one as the girl friend of the closeted soap star Kevin was dating (played by Jason Lewis).

I was waiting around hoping the UPS man would bring some Blu-rays from Fox, but he never did, so I went ahead and watched MONSTERS INC. It's colorful and funny, but it has always been my least favorite Pixar movie. This revisit did not change my mind. The animation is superb (especially since they were pioneering things like Sully's fur that had never been done in CG animation before), and there's wit sprinkled all through the movie, but the chase around the factory is just tedious after a while, and the villain (Steve Buschemi) isn't as well defined as villains in some other films.

I went ahead and watched all of the bonus features on the Blu-ray. There are two new bonuses on disc one (haven't looked at disc two yet) plus those two animated shorts and the commentary carried over from the first DVD release. None of these lasted very long.

Oh  and to answer the questions from yesterday 0  - Mr. Brockman - the Vixter chose  ' Corner of the Sky" as suggested by DR George

Jose - I did sit out on the steps for 4 hours in that costume - which is probably why I am now suffering froma very sore throat

JRand - the top two windows are sliders but none of the rest open - I would love to trade in that 54 year old window for something newer but until we get that lottery win.....

I really wasn't in the mood for MAD MEN or AS THE WORLD TURNS, so I picked THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT on Blu-ray off the shelf and watched that. I didn't get all the way though because I paused for awhile and watched something else, but I always enjoy revisiting this movie even with the shortened clips, the altered aspect ratios on some movies, etc.

Super DOODY

It's funny......it almost always takes less than half a day for me to be reminded why I don't appear here with more frequency.

Gosh, thanks, Brett.

Sorry you didn't like my post...sort of.

You charmer, you...not.

 :D

On the other hand, perhaps you believe it was a reaction to your preceding post?  It was posted after I read:

"Poo"? Is that another one of those HD Moods that DR JMK is reviewing?

It's my favorite one.

OH!  We haven't had a "Coprophiliac Joke Day" in a while...

Earlier in the year, actor Matt Battaglia, an HHW favorite, had a Ford F-150 commercial in which his "Super Duty" came out "Super Doody".

That, in essence, is ALL that the comment was about.

As for your disingenuous comment about why you don't post here more frequently, though, there have been occasions when you were here and engaged various people in conversation only to drop out and disappear without saying a word.  No one posted a "Super Doody" then.  Those abrupt departures made some folks rather confused because they thought you were enjoying the conversations.  As you've found out, time and again, they forgive (and possibly forget) and welcome your infrequent returns warmly. That's the kind of people who post here.  They recognize and appreciate your facillity with writing and an inherent charm in your personality.   Alas the luck, I guess it's my lot in life to be the one here for whom it takes only a few posts to be reminded why I don't miss you when you disappear.

I have not had any luck finding my first post but I think it was in November or December of  2004

I stumbled upon the site completely by accident  -In a moment of boredom I had "googled" m self and it so happened that former DR WFO had mentioned me  in a post - and I was linked to it - WFO suggested Iwould like the group of people  here and encouraged me to join.

He was so very right - the nicest group of people on the whole internet
