Tuesday morning greetings!  Busy day for everyone in our household - I'm off to 2 meetings with the grantwriters where I have to be both program chair and secretary; Richard is attending Bible study, participating in the honor guard at a veteran's funeral, and going to Messiah practice tonight; Rob has 3 philosophy classes at UC.  And we all have to VOTE!

I played Ken Thorne's very own Yamaha keyboard during The Producers.  Ken and the show's director are neighbors.  The director told me repeatedly he had never heard of BK and was quite miffed that BK had done a sci-fi parody with Leslie Nielsen years before the director had.  I think you should have a dinner party together--may I come?  ;)

Good morning, all! The cold continues its status quo: won't go this way, won't go that way and certainly won't clear the hell out. I have a trip to the post office to mail a carton to my copyist Scott in North Carolina, and then I have to vote.

I may =need to stop at a pharmacy. Again.

My sister got a call today telling her that her friend's 11-12 year old niece (who came trick-or-treating with us) might have the swine flu.

She was fine until sunday night, and now has a high fever and achy throat (among other things).  I'm not really sure how catchable it is. But she only met us outside and everyone was wearing gloves. And she was not coughing.

She was holding her cousin's hand (my niece's friend), but did not touch the baby (my 5 1/2 month old niece). Oy.  So now everyone is sort of concerned. Although if she was only outside, and wearing gloves...

I hope she feels better. And i hope my nieces, my sister and her friend's kids don't catch anything.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My sister's friend has a 1 1/2 year old (who is a cousin to the sick girl). And this little girl also has bad asthma. Fingers crossed.

I'm curious what the H1N1 situation is in other places. Here they have only started the shots for health care workers. Supposedly on friday they are starting for high risk people. But they are going to try to start earlier. Since everyone is wanting a shot now.

Only 2 people have died in quebec in 2 months. But the school situation is bad. There are a lot of kids out with flu like symptoms. And people are panicking. Not good.  And a lot of the places that will give shots are only opening on nov 16th!

DR Jane re: whether "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" is available in canada.

I'm not sure. I have not been to the book store in a while. I see only the first 2 books at my library. And when i go to amazon.ca i see that the audio book is coming out this month. but it doesn't show the book.

BK's nemesis o' the day has some great titles but, boy, is his website badly designed.  (IMHO).

Good morning!

An absolutely beautiful morning, and the rest of the day promises more of the same. Crisp and cool, a perfect November morning.

I'll be finishing up MONSTERS, INC. today for my work project. If ZORRO comes in, I'll start on these episodes tonight.

Not classic, DR MATTH - but certainly better than the Steve Martin and that Italian guy's versions.  Although I liked the score to Son of the Pink Panther.

Yes, I went out to vote this morning, too. I thought about walking over there during my morning walk, but I'm glad I didn't. It's more uphill than I remembered, and since the road back to my house is also uphill, I fear I wouldn't have made it on foot.

Off-year elections are usually easy because parking isn't much of a problem. There were only four races to vote on, so I was in and out very quickly.

Well, I'm a BIG fan of the 1960s Alan Arkin, so I would be very interested to see it.

I have a 22" widescreen monitor, and I LOVE it. I'd never had one this size, and it took a lot of getting used to when I first got it. It felt like I was falling into the screen because it was so much larger than I was used to (and widesceen). Now I'm so used to it that I take it for granted.

I'm also looking forward to watching CASTLE while I eat lunch today. I guess I have to scan through yesterday's ATWT, too, since I didn't get around to it last night.

I have a 22' monitor, too, and I also had to get used to the expansiveness of it.  But it's nice to play DVDs on.  And I occaisionally plug in an HD TV signal receiver so I can watch a few HD broadcast channels.

DR JRand, check to see if your PC has an HDMI output.

I'm going to be spending the day moving the dirt that the next-door-neighbor put behind my fence when he excavated to do some backyard project. I got a citation from the city for it.

In Philadelphia, it seems that H1N1 is pretty much confined to the high school and college populations.  I personally know of only one adult who had it (and has since got over it.)

That doesn't seem fair.  Why don't you get your neighbor to move the dirt?

Because I fear it will begin something. He will retaliate or something. He also trimmed the palm tree and put the fronds in my yard. I don't know what's wrong with him.

Aside from being obtuse, he clearly shows you no respect.  You need to speak to him about all of this and tell him that you will be billing him for all dirt/refuse removal.

I don't think a feared retaliation against you for giving him a badly needed reality check should deter you from letting him know that you are not a neighbor to be walked upon.

Meanwhile, you might consider speaking with a "Mr. Lawyer" about this.
