DR Cillaliz - I'm very sorry to hear about the H1N1 death so close to you.  Because our son is about to start his EMT clinicals, he qualified for the vaccine which he received yesterday in the form of nasal mist.

DR Elmore - it was a county immunization event.  Have Jayden's parents looked into that?

TOD:  (well kind of):  Some friends were discussing a few new Christmas releases-- one of them being Bob Dylan's Christmas album.  I couldn't even begin to imagine, so I heard a few cuts from it on accuradio.com.  Well, I heard PARTS of a few cuts.  I still can't even begin to imagine.  OY!  Some of the other new releases were less tha enchanting.

Good morning!

A very chilly morning here, but my walk was nevertheless invigorating. Temps into the low 60s today, perfect for November, and once again there is not  a cloud in the sky. Just gorgeous!

Yes, my work project today is ICE AGE: DAWN OF DINOSAURS. No, not the Blu-ray. Fox never sent it. My supervisor received a review copy of the single disc DVD and sent that to me to review, so that's what I'll be working on this afternoon. Doesn't appear to be any bonus features at all on this movie-only disc. Thus, it should make for a short afternoon of work followed by an afternoon and evening of great leisure viewing including much on the DVR and, of course, NORTH BY NORTHWEST on Blu-ray this evening. Can't wait for that!

I have a cordless mouse that is 100 times more responsive than my corded mouse. It's also got the little page up and page down buttons on the side and a scroll wheel. I really enjoy using it. It's manufactured by Logitech.

I'm also currently using a wireless keyboard, but hopefully that's going to change at some point today. More about that later.

Lori, our plumber, has been here and cleared the drain.  I've received the phone call confirming my 3pm meeting at Wright State University, so my day is shaping up.

DR Jane, re: the H1N1 shots here.

Yes originally they said they had priority groups but that they would not turn anyone away. But that was when they were only doing healthcare workers. Actually i think that only lasted the first day. Then so many people were trying to cut in line that they are now being very strict.

I had gone the day before to see where i qualified. They said only with the last group. They have very specific groups written down. And right now it is only parents of kids under 6 months, kids 6 months to 5, and late stage pregnant women. Nobody else qualifies. Parents of young kids can't go. And siblings can't go.

The weird thing though in today's paper the guy in charge wrote a big letter (full page in the paper) and it did have caregivers and close family members of people who could not get the shot (i.e., young babies). But i don't think that has made it on the main list yet.

Well, I guess I'll head down now to clean up a bit for going out later on my usual Friday errands. Then, I'll watch something before heading out.

I finally received my screener for A CHRISTMAS CAROL yesterday and must get that review live today.  There are pluses and minuses to the Blu-ray.

Speaking of change of addresses, Betsy and I are seriously on the hunt for a new house again.  I simply can't stand being next to this new mini-development of McMansions.  Having the road right next to our house (as short as it is, and despite the fact it "serves" only two houses) has completely changed the quiet tenor (and even bass) of this house.  I'm taking the kids (who have no school today) to a couple of places today with our realtor.  I must say prices in Portland have fallen so dramatically that it's really amazing.  Of course the flip side we can't get very much for this house when we go to sell it.

That's a scary story from Cillaliz, and a good reminder to be careful out there!

Last night DR Cillaliz said:

Oh wow, I just found out my friend's cousin's daughter died from H1N1.  She was a bout 30. Had no underlying health problems and 2 little kids. Very shocking and sad

I'm very sorry to read this, DR Cillaliz.  It just shows that with this particular virus it's hard to tell how badly one could be effected.  I'm not taking any chances and will get myself innoculated when it's available to me.

I want to say to all and one and everyone in between, last night's "Supernatural" was a tour-de-force of creativity, imagination and excellent writing.   This show has been wonderful from the start but it began picking up steam two seasons ago.  After last season, I figured this season would be a denouement.

It isn't.  It's gone on to greater heights, in my opinion.

And this show is not the kind of show that would find a home on the "major" networks at all.  But it has become the keystone of the CW.

SPOILER

jkldjkljk;ajklasd;lfkj lkj;lakflkjasdflkj afd  I really loved "Supernatural's" hilarious takeoff on "Grey's Anatomy".   "Dr. Sexy MD" was a very nice parody.  And I was particularly amused by Dean's encounter with Dr. Sexy...that awestruck fan with a man-crush and "...awww, gee..." countenance.  Where they really nailed a show was the takeoff on "CSI: Miami" with both Dean and Sam doing takes on David Caruso and his "patented" brand of TV screen acting.   The Japanese game show was a hoot.  You just  never know what to expect from this show...except a GREAT deal of pleasure. jkdkjlflkj al;kjadflkj a;lkj ;lksj

I'm up and already tired.  I guess I'll try to do a jog and then errands and whatnot and then rehearsal, which I may bail from at about two-thirty to avoid horrible traffic.

Last night I watched an interesting little film on TCM called FOURTEEN HOURS, about a man who is threatening to jump from the 16th floor ledge of a hotel.  Aside from being the big screen debut of Miss Grace Kelly and being stock-full of soon-to-be-stars in bit roles, the movie stands on its own and still holds up.

Strangely, I could imagine this film being musicalized for the stage.

The ever-shifting rehearsal has now been moved to one, but the gal who's coming has laryngitis and can't sing, so now I don't need to be there till two, which means I won't leave until four or five, which means I guess I'll stay in the Dale of Glen and eat there.
