Just put this onto my reading list!  I can't wait to read VANITY FAIR now thanks to the recommendation.

I think that the next HHW get together should be at JMK's new place. . .

I just finished reading BK's KRITZER TIME, the 3rd/final book in his trilogy.

It's very funny & very moving.

Well, I must be going.  Tonight, I'm ushering for Eric Michael Gillett, here in Olympia.  He's doing four performances in the WCPA Black Box, which holds about 120 people (at the most).  It should be very good!

When does he pull a Lucas and write a prequel trilogy?

I eagerly await the tales of toilet training.

If you see Eric, send a big hello from the likes of me.  Eric was in my very first musical, Start At The Top.

Well in the "don't count your broken eggs until you've counted your chickens" department (that's a department I just made up, by the way):

OUR OFFER WAS ACCEPTED!!!  We were the top "bidder."  So now the problems really start.  Oy!

Congratulations....I think!

One of the vendors had fresh "heritage" cranberries, so I guess I'll be making something cranberry-ish tonight or tomorrow. ;)

Jose, please let me know what you end up making (and how to make it)-- I may end up making something cranberryish for Thanksgiving, and I could use some ideas.

I unplugged my Blu Ray player and let it think about its misbehavior - and so now it seems to be working.  I guess I just had to show it who is boss.

The Our Gang shorts were undoubtedly my favorites since we grew up with them on TV as "The Little Rascals." Must have seen every one of them dozens of times growing up, and now I own all of the sound ones.

I gave my entire evening over to two movies tonight. First, STAR TREK, the J.J. Abrams reimagining. I enjoyed about 80% of it. Seeing the new versions of old favorites was a hoot, really, especially Simon Pegg as a hilarious Scottie. But really, they were all good.

Now, as for what I didn't like, the way Leonard Nimoy was used in the film. I don't blame them for having him somewhere in the story, but I did not like the way he was fitted into this story AT ALL.

The transfer was very good and the sound was marvelous (Dolby TrueHD). I didn't even begin to look at what bonus material might be on the second disc. That'll be for another day.

My next movie was going to be WANTED which I had the DVR record off HBO. Stupidly, however, I set the DVR to record an SD presentation rather than an HD version, and I simply was not going to watch it in 4:3.

I started poking around the On Demand channels and found that Starz had THE INTERNATIONAL in widescreen in its On-Demand listings, so I settled on that. I didn't see it at the theater, and I hadn't bought or rented the Blu-ray, but I did want to see it.

Pretty good espionage thriller. Clive Owen is almost always good, and there was a good amount of action and intrigue. That shootout at the Guggenheim was pretty preposterous, but overall I enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed my day off today, but it's back to work tomorrow: Criterion's A CHRISTMAS TALE (a French film I've never seen). I have both the DVD and Blu-ray versions, but I'll start with the DVD.

Well, the net seems very quiet tonight, so I guess I need to take myself downstairs and go to bed.

Good night!
