They don't call me tenacious-J for nothin' department: OK, so here was my fascinating afternoon of phone calling. The inspection report said to check with DEQ to see if there were any reports of underground oil tanks on the property. Called DEQ, and there was indeed a file, but it was empty. The lady said that probably meant a report had come in that there was an underground tank, but that it had not been decommissioned. She did, though, have the name of the owner of the property at that time (2004), and it matched in ethnicity what we had been told by the neighbors I spoke with. So, anyhoo, I Googled the name and came up with the same surname in Hillsboro and called. I got an extremely ancient, though incredibly sweet, Greek woman named Angela who confirmed that her son had indeed owned the home and she had lived there, too. She was crestfallen to hear what bad shape it was in, but she was a wealth of information about various aspects of the house. Her son is due back in town Monday and she said she and he would meet me at the property to answer any questions I have. This is a G-dsend, as we have been flying blind since the house is in foreclosure and the bank has no info on anything.
