DR CILLA LIZ - I second DR BEN's suggestion of Audacity.

My turntable also came with CAKEWALK PYRO which is very easy to use with a nice online manual.  I would guess that some kind of software is included otherwise it wouldn't be a USB turntable, so check out what came with - it might be better than anything we have used so far....technology being what it is.

I triple on Audacity.  For years I used and loved something called TotalRecorder, but with each new release it got more and more complicated and they kept changing the menus and locations of options.  I've finally threw up my hands (which I shouldn't have eaten in the first place) and looked at Audacity and was immediately taken by it.

Monday morning greetings!  I slept for about 10 hours last night and feel much refreshed.

The Reverend Dr. Richard T. Palmer (or, Father Richard or Father Palmer, conversationally) says "thank you" to DRs Jennifer, Ben, George, Jose, and Vixmom for the congratulatory wishes that appeared while I was sleeping.

I wonder why they never made a movie or TV mini-series based on Leon Uris's TRINITY.  I loved that book!

I am okay with the team that left (did not care for them). But the way they
left was ridiculous.  Who takes a 4 hour penalty??  What kind of a
competitive team would do that?  They had the letters R N A F Z. They knew
the first letter of the word started with 5. OMG!!  How long could it have
taken for them to form the word even if they didn't realize it was an English
word/name.  I mean i get that this team is not that bright at times (they
were much more a physical team). But how stupid to not spend the 4 hours
trying. If they had completed the task in 2 hours i'm sure they would have
been in the F3.  one two three one two three one two three one two
And as for the gay brother promising to help and then leaving. Well that
guy can thank himself if they end up winning. Because Brian and Erika are
very weak. But I still think that guy was totally wrong for leaving the
globetrotter.  And i don't even care for the globetrotters. Yes it was a
race. But there was still a team behind them. And the brother sucked at
the challenge. The only way he got through it was with the globbie's help.
I don't care if they work together. But in a challenge like that, if you agree
to do it, then you need to do it. Because the other guy could have just
as easily finished first. one two three one four three two one two three
As for the Miss America team. They really are lucky. Somehow they manage
to be bad at most tasks. I do not understand how it took them all night
to carry 30 beers. It was dark, and they only had 1 more trip to go. and
then all of a sudden it was light out and they said it had taken all night.
I do like brian. And i did think it was sweet to watch their reactions when
they found out they were not eliminated. They are a nice couple (although
she whines). But they are not good enough to win. The only team that
really deserves it is meghan and cheynne. They are really good. They
always do well no matter what the challenge. And they seem really nice.
I really hope they win! one two three four five six seven eight nine ten

Good morning!

Warmer this morning than I was expecting (almost 50). Make the walk fun but I probably could have slipped off the sweatshirt and not been cold near the end of it. Rain coming later today with more expected on Wednesday and Thursday. A soggy end to November and a soggy beginning to December! Argh!

The UPS truck has come and gone and with it, the Blu-ray of NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN which I'll be working on today. Imagine! A Fox Blu-ray arrives BEFORE street date. Can't believe it. Is this what they call a Christmas miracle?

So, my plans to watch ANGELS AND DEMONS today will probably not be realized. There appear to be a ton of bonus features on the work project disc, and I suspect they'll take me into the evening hours to complete them.

Be sure to check out the audio samples of Love With The Proper Stranger and A Girl Named Tamiko - we made several of them longer than usual.  I think I'll go back to bed for a little while.

Luckily for me, there's nothing on TV tonight I want to see. CASTLE is a rerun. Most shows are in rerun mode tonight.

However, those who watch HEROES and TRAUMA, they are new episodes tonight. And ABC's new reality show at 9 is a fresh episode.

Whew!  Just watched the RED CLIFF trailer on YouTube and then ordered a Region 1/3 two disc set from EBAY for $15.

This looks like a FINE movie!

RE:  Last night's THE AMAZIN' RACE

SPOILER WARNING...

It's funny, but when I saw the phone challenge in last week's preview, I suspected that it would be the Globetrotter's downfall.  But I would have never guessed that Big Easy would just give up on it and take a four hour penalty.  I agree with DR Jennifer--that was just plain stupid a move!

The Gay Brothers annoy me to no end.  Their constant bickering seems to come out of nowhere and I never understand exactly what they are arguing about.  And while I prefer Brian and Erika over the Globetrotters, they are in the final three only by chance. Last night was the first time I really did like Meghan--she did her best to keep her teammate focused and in a positive frame of mind during the golum challenge, as opposed to the brothers who kept yelling at each other and Ericka whining "I can't do this!" throughout the night.  At this point , I would be totally shocked if Meghan and Cheyenne don't win the race next week.

I guess I need to tidy up a few desktop items and then head down to get cleaned up for today's lunch out with best friend John. I should be able to watch BROTHERS & SISTERS from last night before we leave for lunch, too. At least, that's my plan.

"TAR" TALK ahead.....

I would like to know just how long it took for each of the teams to complete the phone task and the "Legend" and "Lager" tasks.  -Especially the phone task.  I also liked how it was set up to purposely confuse and misdirect the contestants.  I mean, with those five letters, my first guess would have been Mr. Kafka. ;)

And, yes, taking the four-hour penalty was just stupid.  He could have just taken a half-hour break, and then started again.  -Or was he not able to do that once he left the building?  Did he essentially give up once he stepped outside?  -And did that team have to do the Legend or Lager task?

DR Jennifer - As for the time-spam - and the sun coming up... The first team didn't depart for the first task until 9:46pm, so I'm guessing that they didn't start the major tasks until at least sometime around midnight.

The plumber is due at 9.  I am hoping they can simply saw off this 2" cast iron drain (which drains the kitchen sink and dishwasher) and put on an elbow and just bypass the section that's leaking and tie it in to the other 2" drain, which services the rest of the house.  The dispatcher this morning seemed to think that on the surface anyway that would probably work.  Otherwise, they're going to have to jackhammer part of our basement pad up to access the buried drain pipe that's leaking.  I guess maybe it could just be backwash from a clog, but there looks to be a hole just a tad underneath the pad (of course)--there's an opening behind the place where the pipe goes into the floor that I was able to see the water coming up from last night.  Oy and double oy.
