I have been reading with great enjoyment Paul Rudnick's latest book, I SHUDDER, consisting of some memoirs and stories, and it's all quite entertaining, from his mother and her sisters to writing SISTER ACT for Bette Midler and dealing with a difficult Nicol Williams on I HATE HAMLET. I just finished a funny but moving chapter on two deceased friends, his agent Helen Merrill and the director Peter Mark Schifter, who died of AIDS at the age of 44.

On a frustrating front, will these reports for BABES IN TOYLAND ever line up? The discrepancies between what are on my desktop and in the PHI repository are driving me a bit mad today. Oy!

I am reading an advance copy of THE LADY IN THE TOWER about Anne Boleyn.  Most interesting and distressing.

And on TCM Take the Money and Run.

I think I will watch THE FAR HORIZONS and then THE ADVENTURES OF MARCO POLO.

TOD:

I've seen John Wayne on screen, but I suspect it was on TV. I don't recall going to any of his movies.

Watched the new BD of the Dornhelm film of La Boheme.  Liked it quite a bit.  Netrebko and Villazon were excellent, though they obviously haven't learned to properly lip synch yet.  This streets in two weeks.

I am very tired. I've been very busy and didn't sleep well last night. A little nappypoo (as one friend calls it) may be in order.

monday i had plans to wash my hair, instead i was at the er.  FINALLY i have had a nice shower and my hair is clean.  twice in the hospital they used a self contained hair washing shower cap.  i suppose it helped a little.

i feel so good, clean wise.  my body feels like the wreck the back of my left shoulder looks.  today was the first time i saw the bruises.  keith had warned me.  he says it looks much better today.  the front of mr arm, where the stitches are, look as if i've been beautifully embroidered.

Lo-o-o-o-ng day of meetings with the grantwriters.  I had to be there early to meet the speaker and the caterer.  We had a good, festive holiday meeting followed by an inconclusive bored board meeting.  The president and I then had to wait around for the caterer to come back to pick up all their gear.  On the upside, I brought home a pan of pasta that we just had for dinner.

You could get a tattoo to cover the scar and really make it look embroidered! ;)

DR Jane - I remember how good that first shower after being in the hospital feels.  Do you have to keep your shoulder dry?  That would be tricky, I'd think.

I heard from DR JohnG. I think he was looking for his post from last night on today's posts and couldn't find it. I assured him he was now an HHW DR and sent him the page from last night with his post. Perhaps today he will tell you all more about himself.

DR Laura, not surprised the deputy won't apologize.  Guess a court's rorder means nothing if you're a deputy.  JAIL TIME!

Nancy's obit was in the paper today.  We had known this already, but her mother was California's Secretary of Education for many years.  Also, in the small world department, she was born in Utah and graduated from the U of U like I did.  I really wish I had talked to her more about her background--I'm certain now we must have had a lot of friends in common, despite her being 10 years or so older than I am.

I saw that online last night.  I was very surprised that the federal defenders here in Iowa didn't know anything about it.

Seattle Police Kill Suspect In Officer Slayings.

This is good.

"Huckabee's Chances for President also Killed.  News at 11."

I don't really think that this will hurt Huckabee's chances.

After all, both the trial judge and the parole board signed off on the commutation.

But, I do think it's good that they got the guy.

Well, Druxy, JMK is not alone in that sentiment.

I would say to Jane not to worry about typos. You just type and we'll figure it out.

I agree.  It is wonderful to see Jane again. It makes me smile
