I'm heading downstairs now to watch another SUPERNATURAL Blu-ray episode before I start cooking some lunch.

Good morning.  Finally I got to sleep in this week.

Dixie Bell and I have had our run through the graveyard on this snowy morning.  Quite brisk.

A propos THE PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, I looked up my dvdlaunch review of the dvd"
http://www.dvdlaunch.com/phantomparadise.html

I'd forgotten that for the most part I rather enjoyed it.

I do like Schumaker's PHANTOM OF THE OPERA for the reasons BK has mentioned - it's not afraid to be what it is, plus I find that the orchestrations are sumptuous and the design of the film is lovely to look at.
What I don't like about it is Gerard Butler.  I also felt that the phantom's making was not shocking enough.
As fond as I am of old CMU friend Patrick Wilson, I find him a little stiff in this movie; I liked him more in ANGELS IN AMERICA.

DR Julie - funny you should ask DR elmore that question as that is the dvd I have been watching over the last two nights!  I started with the documentary on Thursday and then watched half of the movie last night. . .

I had assumed it was you posing there since I'm much thinner than the model.

I love PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE.  I first saw it at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, probably in the mid-Seventies.  It had already become a cult favorite.

I have never seen PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, but I can recall it playing on TV  when I was in grade school. My next door neighbor, Scott Adams, was telling me about it on our way to the bus stop. I remember him mentioning someone getting his head chopped off and I was both horrified and intrigued, but too scared to ever watch the movie.

Is there such a scene?
