I'm not sure that I've ever seen It's A Wonderful Life all the way through.    I guess I should remedy that.                :P

My dad loves this movie, also.  Before he ever bought a copy, it had been on TV a LOT...even the colorized version.  He had an idea one year.  He started recording the colorized version (on his VCR) and when it got to the part where [SPOILERS AHEAD!!] Clarence made George not have been born, he stopped the recording.  He then waited until it was on TV again, but in the original black and white and started recording from where he left off.  He then recorded in black and white until the part where George became real again and stopped the recording.  He finished up his videotape with another broadcast of the colorized version.  He made it like a reverse "Wizard of Oz."  It was actually pretty cool!

Good morning, all! I am up early because I have band parts to finish for Brent Barrett's Birdland rehearsal tomorrow afternoon, and I have to finish up my BABES IN TOYLAND report and take it down to Toyland for Step 2: putting the corrections and revisions into the "official" computer file.

Beyond that, I have little planned. I think I will make out my rent check and send it in, and after that, who knows?

Still volunteering. We have accomplished quite a bit since Monday but we still have much more to do.

It's raining although that's supposed to stop by mid-afternoon. It may deter some of our volunteers.

That's it for now.

Here is a shot of some of the completed bags. It's hard to see but these particular bags, which are going to Beth Israel Hospital, are tied with white ribbon on the bag handles. The ribbon is then curled to look extra pretty.

Wednesday morning greetings!  It's windy here in SW Ohio today, just like they said it would be.

And here is a picture of someone that some of you might recognize. This is the Children's Bags Room. The bald headed gentleman spent much of this year playing Daddy Warbucks in Annie and when he returned to New York he decided to keep the "hairdo"

DR elmore - those people that were giving you a hard time at the recording studio were probably just searching for some way to feel helpful themselves.  They probably realized the day could have proceeded very smoothly without them being there, and were desperately searching for some way to appear useful, and just weren't very good at it.

I can't wait to hear the recording.  Thanks so much for your detailed description of the day.

DR Julie, that's kind of you to say, but the truth is, outside of what I thought was a pointedly rude comment that I was talking too much, I certainly did need to be told to shut up for the recording to proceed. I think my feelings yesterday were really raw because I do not like wasting my time or anyone else's and I feel the whole day, for me, was a waste of my time: Joshie's perfectly capable of advising Rob or checking a score for errors and, outside of keeping an eye on the things I scored, I was pretty much in the way. And spending too much of the day perched on the wooden arm of a sofa or trying to get up off the floor is both uncomfortable and irritating. The recording team was very professional, and it went very smoothly for the recording, which is the most important thing in the scheme of things.

I'm not sure if anyone else watched last night's SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.

*

*

I was quite upset that they would not let one of my favorite dancers dance (ashleigh). I get it if she was injured. But her shoulder snapped out and they snapped it back in. They should have taken her for tests immediately.

I get that they need the doctors to advise because otherwise injured dancers would surely compete. But to me if she goes out on this, then they totally ruined things for her!

Btw, two of my favorites got to dance together (mollee and jakob). I thought their first dance was amazing!

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE SPOILER -

The film does have the potential to fill some people with despair rather than hope.  It took some sort of divine-like intervention in the story to keep  the suicide from happening - but people who reach that horrible point rarely have that kind of perspective when they're about to fall prey to their depressions.  In a way, the film tells you to take a look around and notice the people who love you despite your flaws and also see the good you've brought to the world - but in real life that perspective must come from within the person himself or herself (you need to be your own Clarence), and how many have perspective like that when they're functioning normally, let alone feeling the depths of despair?
