-But I had a nice walk, and it was nice to spend the day bopping around town with my friends.

Was this a regular bop, or did you, by chance, do a little ditty-bopping on the side?

I have a short story to relate.  Everyone in this little town is germ conscious nowadays....now more than ever with the "H1N1" ("hiney") virus going around.

My mom and aunt have been using sanitiziing gel for as long as I can remember there being such a thing.

My mom was telling me how she now won't use a towel more than once...or a wash cloth...or anything that might get wet.  Her bout with pneumonia and her not knowing how she acquired it (given that she felt great the day before) has left her taking extra precautions.  She reminded me that as we age, we are more susceptible to the havoc germs can wreak upon the human body.

She then laughed and said, "Germs and Jesus"!

I said, "Huh?"

She was surprised I didn't remember, because she has brought it up before:  When I was about 6 years old, I was called to the dinner table from playing outside.   (For an aside:  I was raised to be Southern Baptist and my mom took an active role in teaching me about Jesus and praying to Jesus...and, on occasion, using Jesus and his teachings as an admonishment when I was bad).  As I walked toward the table, I was instructed to get my butt into the bathroom and wash the germs off my hands.

A minute or so later, my mom heard me muttering in the bathroom.  Thinking I was sassing her under my breath, she went to the bathroom door and asked me to speak up and tell her what I said.

I looked at her, she recalled, and said, "Germs and Jesus! Germs and Jesus! That's all I ever hear about, and I ain't never seen either one!"

I asked if she spanked me, but she said no.  I surprised her so much she could only laugh.

 ;D  great story.

MORE DELICIOUS FOOD.:)  Are you getting any exercise?

Those of you who, like I am, are luddites and are dealing with Windows Vista--did your taskbar change after the latest service pack update?  I'm trying to figure out if what's happening is related to this stupid virus I got.  Instead of my normal taskbar, with the taskbar buttons wide enough to read what they reference, I now only have "logo" buttons, tiny little icons that don't tell me anything.  Plus only 2 at a time will display, which is silly.

Mine hasn't changed at all.

It's t-shirt weather here.

We went from single digits to double digits.  Tomorrow we may break 20 degrees.  Of course the average is in the upper 30s....must be global warming cooling us down again ;)

DR Ron Pulliam - No ditty-bopping.  But I did happen upon two individuals who were "supervising" a promo for Coke Zero.  They had a HUGE bin filled with cans of Coke Zero. When I walked by them, they said, "Free Coke Zero! Free Coke Zero!".  I then asked them if they had to stay out on the sidewalk in the cold until all the cans were gone. I got a very "knowing" nod.  "Take a couple of cans. Take some for your friends. Take one for now. Take some for later."  So... I did.  I managed to walk away with a six-pack and a half - nine cans total. :)

Oh, he has a few weeks to look forward to car shopping.

You mean he has a scant few weeks to completecar shopping!

der Brucer

Have you ever taken a female car shopping? It's more time consuming than looking for shoes.

I bought a new car in the time it took to do an oil change.  Never met a man who could buy a car that quickly!

I'm curious have most people in the US gotten their H1N1 shots yet?

I believe they are closing down here on friday.

They are just beginning to open the shots up for people not in the high risk groups.

Monday was the first day non priority groups could get them in Iowa. I got mine on Tuesday

And just in case you haven't seen this yet....

If you don't know, as of today, Facebook will automatically start plunging the Earth into the sun. To change this option, go to Settings --> Planetary Settings --> Trajectory then UN-CLICK the box that says 'Apocalypse.' Facebook kept this one quiet. Copy and paste onto your status for all to see.

From Facebook: "There have been misleading rumors recently about Facebook hastening the planet to its fiery end. This is not true. Facebook merely gave the globe a little nudge in 2007. Any change in the Earth's orbit is its own business, and you will not be able to see any of its status updates unless you are friends with Earth or Earth changes its privacy settings to share that information with everybody."

Within the next couple of days we will be proud owners of a small chest freezer, thanks to my mother.  She's had it in her garage, but will have no room for it when she moves.  I'm looking forward to stocking up and to cooking some big batches of things like soups and sauces and baked goods.

I gotta say this about my day:  I received a gift today from an unknown customer. A hand-crafted ceramic tall coffee mug with this on the rim: #1 LATTE CHEF. Thank you, whoever you are.

Congrats Ginny.  Freezers are great right now we just have to set things outside the door, but the rest of the year my little freezer is very handy

Well, it was hand-delivered to the cafe at night. . .I never work the cafe at night. . .so it is a mystery wrapped in an enigma, and I like it like that.

To all my fellow HHW who live in Portland, OR or nearby. Does anyone have an "in" at the Triangle Productions in Portland? I would like to send my play to them to consider for production.

Thanks
