LOL, it's time off from the office.  It's been a nice day.  The glass of wine at a friend's store didn't hurt any.

Uh-Oh... I hope that Greg is keeping an eye on things down in Atlanta for DR edisaurus:

No snow in Atlanta, but potential floods

*Charleston, SC, is has also been dealing with some record rainfall and potential flooding the past couple of days.

So far, so ...OK...

DR Laura, I decided to take your advice...I didn't work at the office today.  I didn't even clean out the desk.  There is time to do that later. I do have a deadline Monday, but I can get it done on Monday

I did call my friend who invited me to a cookie exchange tomorrow - we do the dough ahead of time and bake the cookies at her house - and said I'd love to go.   I'm going to make Jane's wonderful sour cream cookies.  they were a huge hit at the office (the neighbors, workmen, Edith and I etc) So I'll make the dough in the morning and chill it until time to go.

i'm glad the cookies were a big hit!

DR Edi, sorry you are stranded, but there are worse places to be stranded than New York City at the Edison Hotel.  Hope you make the best of it.

Lucky me, Peter's wife has the same size feet and has generously loaned me a pair of snowboots, so now I'll head to the Edison. No internet, but I may just wander around Broadway for awhile...

Decided to watch Godzilla, the new version - so far, in the first ten minutes they've managed to do several things wrong.  It gives me little hope for the rest.

I love NYC in snow!  I was there for New Year's Eve in either 77 or 78 and there was a massive snowstorm!  We wandered around Central Park at night amazed.

Back from seeing Avatar - totally captivating; seeing in 3D is a must.

I hope Pixar can do as well with John Carter of Mars.

i have two different anti-nausea meds so i can tolerate the pain meds.  normally i would read up on meds before taking them, under the circumstances i didn't.  neither did i read the extra flap on the prescription label that says may cause drowsiness.  i'm going to try skipping the morning dose (i was taking one in the morning & one at night, alternating the 2).  one at bedtime sounds better.

Before I left for the CHristmas party, I had time to watch another episode of THE MENTALIST. This was the one where Patrick quit the CBI because he was forbidden to help prove a man in jail was innocent. The man claimed to have information on Red John, and Patrick would do anything to get that information. I love how the team rallied around him.

It is a really terrible film.

The CHristmas party was quite festive and enjoyable, and I stayed exactly as long as I had planned and no longer. Nice to see some folks I hadn't seen in a while including a former student of mine with his lover. Of course, I had no idea he was gay when I taught him in 8th and 9th grade. I'm glad he has found someone who makes him happy.

When I got home, I watched a film I've been itching to revisit for a few weeks: THE THIN MAN. It takes place at Christmas, so it's perfectly appropriate for this time of year. It's such a great film that it's right for ANY time of year.

Since I didn't get any more review material in the mail today, I have decided I'll take another day off tomorrow. I plan to watch the big hit comedy of the summer THE HANGOVER on Blu-ray tomorrow.

Hmmm... the internet seems very quiet tonight, so I think I'll take myself downstairs and go to bed a bit earlier tonight than usual.

Good night!

What a great evening! Charlotte met some of the band, all of the leads, Joshie, Rob Berman, and part of the ensemble. The show got me again tonight and I left the theatre all teary; it's a killer ending.

The snow is really falling so we subwayed to 86th Street and i walked her home, then walked back here. I have no idea how much has fallen so far but it's quite beautiful.
