What happens if you miss the deadline to have the music information to the church secretary so she (or he) can type up the bulletin?
EASY - you handcuff the sceretary to her desk until such time as the information is provided. Should the secretary still be in cuffs when the minister arrives, and the Bulletin is not prepared, the minister should blame the secretary for her poor planning.

der Brucer

Pretty close.

The due date was Tuesday night; I chose the hymns at 8:30 this morning. I think I gave enough time.

After I get an answer from a music director, I will tell the story MusicGuy told me years ago.

DR DER BRUCER - I also believe there was a report that the "suspected" terrorist first went to the bathroom in order to "prepare" shortly after the plane took off.
interesting, & gives me a better understanding of the rule.

However, I'm pretty sure that getting out of one's seat in order to extinguish a fire - no matter the source or cause - would still be permitted.

lol, i'm sure he knows that

should it have been easily caught?  i didn't read how it was smuggled thru security

The snow going up my path to my door is mid thigh depth and there is a lot of snow that I need to move tomorrow.

When I was kid I would have made a small fortune moving snow - where are the Iowa teens?

I was, however, criticized by non-understanding seniors because I was out shovelling for dollars while my Mother was slugging her way through our sidewalks - let's face, my folks were poor and could not afford my services.

From last night:

DR Laura: "I bought a plane ticket a few days ago, and I don't remember ever being required to give my date of birth before. Seems like there are already an awful lot of security things to go through now."

Frankly, I'm surprised the airlines hadn't been asking for this additional bit of "Proof of Identification" before now.  That's part of the TSA's new "Secure Flight" measures which ask for your: Full Name, Date of Birth, and Gender.  To me, that sounds like that would have been a lot easier - and cheaper(!!!) - to implement immediately after 9/11 than the heavy-duty screening machines and the personnel required to run those machines.  Yes, some "Privacy Advocates" are bitching about having to submit even more information to the airlines and the government, but that's a truly small price to pay for knowing who is actually on your flight in the seat next to you.

i can't tell you how many times in the hospital i had to give my name and birthdaye.  of course it was for my protection so i didn't get the wrong meds or treatment.  before surgery the doctor had my shoulder marked.  i liked that.

**I just hope that whoever cleared this "suspected" terrorist to fly is reprimanded, well.. Fired!

He was on a none-TSA intelligence database that includes people with known or suspected terrorist ties, and officials knew about that possible connection for "some time..."

"Suspected contacts" is insufficient data to put a person on the NoFly list.

der Brucer

then it seems he should have been checked more carefully than the average passenger.

penny how strange the hostess insisted I take all four goose carcasses.  what did she suggest you do with them?

When I objected to her throwing them out with so much meat on them, and suggested 'stock' - she insisted I take them and make stock... I was glad to get 'em!!

now it isn't strange ;D

Posted on the church door:

NOTICE FROM YOUR PASTOR

Jesus’ exhortation that “It Is Never Too Late” applies to salvation, not to submittals for the church bulletin.

Hell knows no fury like that of a secretary pushing a deadline.

*I'm just wondering if the TSA is going to start having special procedures for incoming International flights and flights in and out of DCA like they did right after the planes started flying after 9/11.

**I just hope that whoever cleared this "suspected" terrorist to fly is reprimanded, well.. Fired!

I wonder if that new-fangled controversial see-through airport security scanner was used or not.  And if it would've been able to "see" the item strapped to the guy's leg.

We saw one faboo, knockout house today.  It's a short sale, incredibly gorgeous, big, with a to die for view of the valley west toward the coast range.  I'm a bit concerned as it's on a steep hill and there were blueprints left on the kitchen island detailing erosion mitigation and a geotechnical assessment.  But it sure was a beautiful house, fairly new (2004 I think) and with a really big "wow" factor.

It is in a planned community which has a bunch of bylaws.  I just went online to see if we're allowed to fence the yard for the dogs (we could get an invisible fence if not, but I didn't find anything about fences).  However, my favorite bylaw was "Resolution Concerning Resolutions."

Topic of the Day...essentially everything that I've purchased this year ;):

Allegro - the complete recording
Anya
The Chick Corea Songbook - The Manhattan Transfer!
Cry For Us All
Gypsy - Patti's version (as if there were any other version released this year :D)
Illya, Darling
Next to Normal
Road Show
Show Girl
Shrek - OBC
Splendor In the Grass - Pink Martini
That Old Mercer Magic - JaLaLa

the new solo albums by Liz Callaway, Rebecca Luker and especially Brent Barrett and Kate Baldwin

And every movie soundtrack released by Kritzerland...no, really!  I've never been much of a fan of instrumental music, but by listening to these (and reading BK's liner notes about them all), I think I've developed an appreciation for them and have really enjoyed what BK has chosen (and been able) to release. :)

Odd day.

My mom and I drove to North Augusta SC this morning around 9:30.  A little more than four hours later, I was driving her 1998 Ford Windstar home while she followed in her spanking new (2010) Nissan Rogue.

Spent the afternoon watching Sherlock Holmes movies on TCM...and nodding off...and waking and watching Sherlock Holmes movies on TCM...and nodding off...and etc., etc.

I'm a bit concerned as it's on a steep hill ...

I'm sure the boys will enjoy the snowboarding.

Dude, just find you a plot somewhere, buy a double-wide and add on a big old screened-in porch.

Whatcha need a big old house for?  Got a band of domestics needing work?

At my parents' house, a truck and a blade wasn't enough to move all the snow.  The guy they hire brought in a huge tractor with a scoop on the front and a commercial sized snow blower on the back.  Once he got done, then the blade came in.  After that, I still had to dig out my car because they couldn't get that close to it.

DR Laura - Next time, simply just print the following in the church bulletin:

Processional: "Walk This Way" (Aerosmith-Run DMC version)
Offertory: "Money, Money, Money" (ABBA)
Communion Meditation: "Rehab" (Amy Winehouse)
Recessional Hymn: "Baby Got Back"

That should to the trick.

And here is the supposedly legendary staircase in the Jefferson Hotel.  I guess I could look up the possible connection to "Gone with the Wind" now, but..
