I was watching the hi-def transfer of Anatomy Of A Murder - the DVD was open matte and therefore appalling - lovely to see it in its proper ratio, and while I'd imagine a Blu-Ray will be sharper, it looks pretty good. And what a film - the kind we'll never see again, simply because we don't have those kinds of actors anymore, from the smallest to the largest parts, and because no film executive, director, or producer would have the nut clusters to hire someone like Duke Ellington to provide a score. And they'd change everything, and they'd add droning, thumping music, and they'd make the script all Screenplay 101 and it would be pathetic. Oh, for actors like James Stewart, George C. Scott, Ben Gazzara, Lee Remick, Arthur O'Connell, Eve Arden, Murray Hamilton and on and on - in ONE movie.
