I began my evening viewing finishing the episode of ROME which I had only gotten about halfway through. Poor Vorenus in need of money and having to be a bodyguard, and Pompey making one misguided egotistical mistake after another.

Then I watched one more episode to finish out disc two. This was the one when Vorenus rejoins the army, and Octavian and Pullo discover that the child he thinks is his daughter's is actually his wife's by another man. So, they exact revenge in honor of their friend.

After the show and post-show, we went to El Centro for some Mexican food and margaritas... As I walked in the door, I thought I spied someone, and, lo and behold....

bk and DR elmore - Larry Blank sends his best!

I had decided I'd watch ROSALIE, but it was 123 minutes, and I didn't want a film that long, so I dipped into the Archive pile and pulled of Jolson's THE SINGING FOOL. A lot of songs that were Jolson evergreens, but this 1928 film really has lots of damaged places. It's barely intact for audiences to be able to watch it over eighty years later. I didn't take out the laserdisc to compare, but I'll swear I didn't remember its being in that poor condition. However, I'm sure it was, and I had just forgotten.

Then, to pass the time until CHUCK came on and got going so I could watch it on the DVR and skip commercials, I put in JUDY GARLAND: BY MYSELF, the superb Emmy-winning documentary that's on disc two in the EASTER PARADE set. Well, of course, once it started, I got swept up in it and when I looked at the clock, it was 10 p.m. and the documentary still had 15 minutes to go, so I just let it finish, and I'll watch CHUCK at some point tomorrow.

Nothing to post about, except something self-aggrandizing:

Philadelphia's Kimmel Center (where the WICKED tour is now playing - no relation to Bruce Kimmel AFAIKnow) has the CRYING POVERTY parody of DEFYING GRAVITY as its uppermost TWITTER tweet for the weekend

http://twitter.com/KimmelCenter

The tweet is:

"Crying Poverty" pardoy of WICKED's "Defying Gravity" sung from the perspective of Ruthie Madoff http://bit.ly/7n4JA4 How timely!
10:31 AM Jan 8th from web

----------

I'm sure there will be bigger Kimmel Center news in Philly besides the parody tomorrow, though.  :)

So....

DR Cillaliz - Are you just going to wait until the Spring thaw to recover your crowbar?

;)

*And what's a "deer block"?

The crowbar fell behind a bush that has a snow drift in front of it...so I'll wait until it thaws a little at least.

A deer block is like a block of salt only it's some sort of food and salt pressed together in a block. The deer lick it and chew on it.  It's food.

OK, my hearing needs checking.  I thought they said "Why is there Esther Rolle hanging off the edge of your plate?" on Food Network.

They apparently said escarole.

Back from a nice home-cooked meal of a lamb chop (I have not had lamb or a lamb chop since I was eight), mashed potatoes, and salad.  And now I shall try to write a few more pages.

That is an absurdly long time not to eat lamb. I rather enjoy my lamb in my Greek dishes...

I had a Greek dish one time, but he moved back to Athens.

Look under your bed; he may still be hiding.

Here's an idea of the size of the drifts on the front porch. It's what I had to dig through to be able to open the front door

Feeling temperatures higher than 30 degrees on my skin tomorrow is going to be a delightful sensation. I'm looking forward to it. I might even be able to take my walk tomorrow morning if my congested head continues to improve.

One of the most bizarre NFL Playoff Games that I have ever watched.

That was probably my team.

We had a very good rehearsal for Jonathan Gealt's show tomorrow night. Joshie's work was wonderful and left mine in the dust. The boy's talent scares me. The band was great. My friend Kirk played the bass and did a fantastic job. We've never worked together on a band job; I know him from Realtime Music Solutions.

I'm going to head downstairs now, take one more jaunt on the treadmill, and then go to bed.

Good night!

Oh I have lots of photos that are much prettier....the crowbar is behind a bush that is behind that particular snow drift.

I must catch up on posts - a true tax season hazard - that should be my new resolution since the first one didn't work out.

It's not bothering me yet. If the snow melts slowly and doesn't come in my house, I'll be fine with it. If it causes leaks and messes up the house, not so much.  Roofs keep collapsing around here, Petsmart, a school, a manufacturing company, a guys garage....now that would be a bad day...so, as long as I don't have major problems, I'm ok
