re: last night's CHUCK

I thought last night's "Chuck" was awesome.

The character "Chuck" is...well, he's Chuck.  But I totally see depth and development in the character (else I'd be done with it) and the story arcs.

They've had to tie up a bunch of loose ends from last season and set the wheels in motion for this season, and I think they've done some terrific things with the show.  Am really looking forward to seeing what they do with Ryan McPartlin's "Devon" next week.

I'd love to see some of the flashes come on more quickly -- and without the crossing of Chuck's eyes.   Remember how tiresome Lynda Carter became as  "Wonder Woman" every time she wanted to change into her superhero alter ego.  It was giggle-inducing, although I realize many people STILL love it.  LOL.

"Chuck" is one of the delights of the TV season at my house.  Shows I've grown weary of and dropped cold include "Grey's Anatomy" (they've exhausted me to the point of wanting to shoot my TV...especially the far-too-old Ellen Pompeo -- she's 40-plus -- and looks it -- playing a woman in her late 20s!!!)) and CSI (it had a few really great seasons, but...seen that, seen that, seen that).

I also really like the show.  I'm not sure if i'm crazy about them going forward in time. I think i would have preferred if they had just continued from the end of last season. But i agree that monday's episode was good. Especially the ending. It freaked me out (in a good way).  Although then they showed a preview which sort of gave part of next week away. I'm wondering why they did that.

I have a question for those who know from professional singers:

Have there been any contestants on American Idol who have won (or come close to winning) who are singing correctly and would have had a shot at a professional career (without the publicity of Idol)?

IMO there are contestants on American Idol who could have had shots at careers without Idol. However, I think becoming a famous singer isn't necessarily only about talent. And in that respect, Idol lets people know the singers. So they get that exposure.

I don't know that any contestant would be as popular without Idol. But i don't think people can say that Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, adam lambert... can't sing. They can sing.

Tabatha's Salon Makeover is most interesting.....although it could just be because two of my sisters were stylists at one time...and I took a semester of classes though never got a certificate.....

ANYWAY.....Tabatha Coffey is my favorite type of reality star....a professional at SOMETHING....and there is a point to the show.  She is not famous because she is ON tv.....she goes into these hair salons where people deserve to have clean, professional, knowledgeable people working on them.....and tells them where they are going wrong....and a lot of them are delusional.  The classless women from the Oyster Bay NY salon are perfect examples.....

DR JRand59, I love Tabitha! I have a great admiration for her skills as an analyst and business woman.

I've  returned from the McGlinnventory to an apartment of problems: the water was turned off this morning while I was out and now all the toilets in the building are screwed up. I'm waiting for the plumber to return with new whatsits to correct the problem. They just finished working on the apartment below mine.

I love most vegetables, with the exception of the squah wing of the family.  My favorite vegetable is the lowly potato or potatoe, if you prefer.  The potatoes can be scalloped, au gratin, lyonnaise, mashed, fried, French fried, etc., etc.

As for the Topic of the Day...

I'm a big fan and practitioner of roasting vegetables.  Cut vegetables up, sprinkle with olive oil, salt and pepper and other spices.  Place in a 375-400 degree oven until done.  I'm very fond of preparing Brussels sprouts and fennel this way.

Otherwise, I really don't think I've come across a vegetable I haven't liked.

OH! And pickles - cucumbers, watermelon rind, carrots, squash, okra, beets, etc...

I now have heat.  I don't really understand why I had to open a service ticket for our facilities area to get heat, but I guess that's how it works around here...

The event starts at 7:30, doors open at 7:00, I believe.

Was it a tribute to Desi Arnaz Sr or Jr?

I'm up - boy I really must have been uber tired from barely five hours the night before.  I slept like a log and now I am quite behind and Cason will be here in twenty minutes and I've got 122 e-mails to go through.

I didn't make it over there the past weekend, but I heard some wonderful things about it.

Here's a brief wrap-up from the 92nd Street Y's BLOG.
