Thanks to all for the congrats for my DS and and the blood test vibes.  We're now into the "therapeutic" phase of this blood clot thing and the results of the blood tests just help determine my Coumadin dosage.  I did learn this morning that I have a standing order for this test at the lab until July  :P

IS THAT ONCE A WEEK GINNY?

DR Jane - the way it works is the doctor or his nurse will call with today's results and tell me what dosage to take and when to have my next test.  Repeat.  Last time I had this it was every 3-4 days at the beginning.

Both of my parents are dealing with the same process(?) right now.  Every time I go home, I always seem to be one who answers the phone when the nurse calls from their doctor's office.

55 Days at Peking was a most excellent movie with some very good performances......too bad it (and CIRCUS WORLD also from Samuel Bronston) are unavailable in good Region 1 DVD's .

Bill Bronston (Samuel's son) told me last year they're both coming soon.  Of course, that was last year.  ;)

Very stranbge reaction of those producers, DR JMK, since they've certainly had plenty of country artists in the finals including eventual winner Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler who last a long time along with Bucky Covington and others.

Of course, maybe they don't want any MORE country singers, but that certainly hasn't been the case in the past.

I looked at some of 55 DAYS on TCM-HD before I headed out to lunch. It looked RAVISHING! Really spectacular color and sharpness.

Before heading out for lunch I did have time to watch a couple of other things. First up was THE OFFICE. Funny show that included a lot of clips from previous seasons, but the wraparound plot was also quite funny with the faux-Stanley, Computron, and other fun gimmicks.

Just make sure you don't strain yourself. That would not be good.

Then I watched BROTHERS & SISTERS. I couldn't believe the family was making such a big deal about a 20th high school reunion, and I can't believe Kevin would have been so intimidated. Very artificial episode, I thought.

The Revolutionary went well yesterday.  I'm left handed, so that helps.  No, no sequencing was used in the production of this piece.  ;)

However, in related AMERICAN IDOL news, it turns out the deceased's grandson, who sang the Michael W. Smith opus "Friends" at the service, had actually made it to the second round of the Houston AI auditions, and he told us all about it.  They had to sleep in the Astrodome, groups of three are called up before an Associate Producer and asked to sing for no longer than 10 seconds.  In his group, the two others were simply told, "No," and were escorted away and they told him, "We'll keep you."  He had done 10 seconds of a country song and they told him they were a pop show, not a country show, so to choose something else to sing before the judges.  I can't remember what he said he chose, but when he got to the judges, he went up and they wouldn't let him do his original country song or start over.  Sad, because he does have a great voice.

I've heard many horror(?) stories about that whole vetting and winnowing process.  It's all about the "Look" and "TV-Q" before "Talent" is even considered.  -Thus those poor clueless souls who end up padding the prelim rounds on TV.

When I got in, I immediately sat down to watch LOLA MONTES. Suffice to say I had never seen anything remotely like this version of the movie. The circus scenes were completely new to me and certainly added another dimension to the movie that I vaguely remembered.

They've done a remarkable job restoring it to its correct Cinemascope ratio and with vivid color (typical EastmanColor with reds that are too candy cane red.)

Very entertaining film, but the lead just is SO flat and uncharismatic. Too bad they couldn't have done it with Vivien Leigh fifteen years prior. The role really needed some of her kittensh vivacity.

And now it's time to get the rest of my day in gear.  Alas, I really don't think I'll be able to make it to B&N this afternoon for the Finian's Rainbow CD signing.  -Now, if they had scheduled it at 7:00 like all the other CD signing, well... But, noooo, this one is at 5:00... ;) -Sorry, DR George. :(

I also listened to about 30 minutes of the commentary. It's by Ophuls expert Susan White. Filled with information but she has a dry, flat-voiced way of speaking that isn't much fun to listen to.

The second disc in the set contains the bonus features. I just glanced at the menu before shutting everything off. There are four items on the menu, but they could last anywhere from one minute to ninety minutes. I have no idea how long it will take me tonight to get through these bonus supplements.
