[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]There are so many things to remember!

Oh!  A "Roar of the Greasepaint" reference!
[/move]

Does one have to have a website of one's own before one downloads an image/photo?  For instance, I have photos saved on my PC....can those be used here (not all at once, of course), or must they be identifiable via a URL?

Anybody know, or is that more of a technical question for the other forum?

I don't exactly know, but I do know that you can go to imagestation.com and upload pictures there, and then you have a website from which to host your pictures.  Then you can just right-click on the picture, copy the url, and paste it into your message, then highlight it and click the image icon.

Actually Joy, I'd advise you against doing it the way you've done. In many cases secondary websites don't allow their users to use images they host in this manner. Most people will not be able to see your image here at HHW. Instead they'll see an image that Imagestation replaces it with that says something to the effect of their not allowing you to reference images hosted on their site.

The simple solution is to upload your photo to HHW through your profile. There is an option to either select one of our preloaded icons, reference an image on a website, or upload an image. If you have your image on your personal computer, simply select this option and Browse to locate the image file on your computer. When you save your profile, after that, it will upload your photo and use it within all of your posts...

You know what, Mark, you're right...because now the Imagestation site is down, so there's nothing but an x in the corner of where my picture should be!  I took the pic down and when the site comes back up I'll save it to my computer, then upload it onto HHW, and we should be in business!!

I wanted to post a picture (I have in my own email) of myself. I understand what you (mark) said about doing it in my profile.  But I see that those pictures are saved and anyone can then use them. I just wanted to post my picture once.  Is there really no easier way than what you describe?  I would have thought you could just click and put any picture in a message.

The only reason to upload a photo within your profile is to upload an image for use in your user image, the photo that accompanies each of your posts. To post a photo within a post, however, you just select the photo by hitting the Browse button within the reply page you get by clicking the Reply button in any board.

Mark, I've tried this so many times and it doesn't seem to work for me.

When I created the post above, I did click the Reply Button, then the Browse button & found a picture on my hard drive.  I clicked the Open button and the file path was in the Attach line.  I clicked Preview and the text message was there and the file path to the picture was next to the Attach word (not in a box) and the box with the Browse button was BELOW that.  Then I clicked Post and only the text part showed up, not the picture.  What else am I missing?

Try doing the same but don't preview the post. Just attach it and post. No preview. I'm just as new to this feature as you are so I'm trying as best I can to figure out what's going on...

Thank you Mark. Thank you George.

I had no idea that people weren't previewing first.

Why did nobody else say they weren't doing this? :)

Thanks again. I know this is why my pics weren't posting.

You can't upload multiple images within one post but you can link to as many as you want hosted on other websites.

I am trying to upload an image from my computer into my profile.  I have not been successful.  Instead get the following  message. "Avatar image is too big, please resize it and try again (max 110 x 150, 20 KB)"  The images I'm using are either GIF or JPG and anywhere between 6kb and 200kb in size.  Nothing works.  Please help me.

Hmm. The images must be BOTH under 2k in file size and less than 110 pixels wide AND 150 pixels tall. If the file is indeed a gif or a jpg AND it meets the other requirements you SHOULD have no trouble uploading. If you're unable to do so while also meeting the requirements than let us know...

I've been trying to use this headshot as my new avatar, but it tells me it's too big!  I can't figure out how to make it smaller, so I was hoping that if I attached it here somebody could help me.  Thanks!

Hi Joy,

It appears the image you tried to use as your new avaar (Joy_Small.jpg) is indeed too small. Not (I think) in file size but in sheer pixel width. The pixel width of avatars cannot exceed 110 pixels wide by 150 pixels tall. Joy_Small.jpg is 112x148. So, try to shrink the image down two pixels wide to at the largest 110 and all should be well. Lemme know if that makes sense and/or works...

This is a test.  This is only a test.  Actually, I'm posting this here as an uploaded image and then will link from here to my post so that I can put two pictures in one post...

Eventually.

I've had no luck uploading my picture either in my "profile" or in this forum.  Don't know if it's because of my iMac equipment.  But I'm giving up for now.
