Well, you've read the notes, the notes were good for what ails you, and now it is time for you to post until the good cows come home.

It's exciting reading about your book, BK!

Good morning, all! Last night at 2:45 am, during a noisy round of sex gong on above me, I taped a note to the door of the tenant in 4C: "you need a heavy duty bed for sex - the squeaking is driving me crazy." This will either piss him off or initiate some changes, but something has to be done: the lack of sleep is killing me.

Today, I have some things to accomplish at Toyland and an evening of no plans. Hopefully, I can catch up on sleep and perhaps sleep late tomorrow morning.

Greetings from snowy Northern Virginia!  It's hard to tell how much snow there is from a 3rd floor window, but I'm guessing 15 inches.  And 8 to 10 more are expected today.   And here I thought I left the big snowstorms behind when I moved from Buffalo!

ALL I DESIRE and THERE'S ALWAYS TOMORROW are two great Stanwyck performances....if Universal had filmed them in color, they might be better known.

I wish they'd tried to sell it to PBS for a "Great Performances" broadcast. There were several missed opportunities to keep the show alive. I like the CD, too, and I am grateful it was made.

We've had no snow yet, so I'm wondering if it's passed us over.

The only thing that makes me crazy in ALL I DESIRE, is that Barbara sees her daughter Lori Nelson (who was married at one time to Johnny Mann....of the Johnny Mann Singers) in a high school play and tells her that she is so good she should go to New York to be on the stage.

Sirk makes most of the scenes from the play that we see silent and in pantomime as Barbara and others beam in the audience.  He had Lori's number - and it was never sung by the Johnny Mann Singers.

Many years ago, I had the pleasure of chatting with Michael Caine in a green room.  The subject turned to the differences between the United States and the UK, and I'll never forget something he said (paraphrasing):

"In the United States, when a working man sees somebody driving a Rolls Royce, the usual reaction is 'I'm going to work hard, and someday I'll be driving one of those.'

"However, in the UK, the working man says, 'We're going to tax that rich s.o.b. out of that car, so that he has drive an old clunker just like us.'"

It was really good. The play fluctuates between 1951 and 1953, and it's quite moving. The cast is the two parents, the three sons, and the girl who loves the eldest son. The scene changes were covered by projections of newsreels from the time and popular songs. Given the space, the direction was really fluid and so good that you didn't notice it.

All of the punctures in my arms to draw blood yesterday have turned into ugly bruises.

When I was in the ER 2 weeks ago, this &$@* nurse, before I could object, took blood out of my wrist, rather than my elbow.

It hurt like hell and I still have a bruise there.

Yesterday was  a tax-filled day, mainly one large large return that needed to be put in today.  Today is an in-tax-office work day.  I will be back.

Saturday morning greetings!  We are snowed in.  Fr. Richard has already had a call from his senior warden in Lima and they made the decision to cancel services for tomorrow.

Good morning!

It's still gray here, but at least it wasn't raining or snowing so I could fit in my walk this morning. It rained 2 inches worth yesterday, so the creeks were swollen this morning and raging like little rivers.

The newspaper said we were to have rain and snow today, but so far nothing, and it's not cold enough for snow to stick even if it does fall.

I really do not like him in THE CIDER HOUSE RULES despite his Academy Award. I think his accent is very weak, and his performance to me is not up to par. Delroy Lindo in the film is much more dynamic and impressive. I would have given HIM the Oscar and not even nominated Caine.

I get to spent a great portion of my day today and tomorrow with THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, and I'm really looking forward to it. I hope the transfers do it justice.

There are 24 episodes, so there is no way I could get them all done today.

I'm also looking forward to Thursday night's BURN NOTICE, one of my favorite shows which I can't believe I didn't give first priority to yesterday instead of PROJECT RUNWAY or HUMAN TARGET. I won't make THAT mistake again.
