continued travel vibes for DR ELMORE.

I have removed the snow from the sidewalk and the driveway.  A neighbor kindly used his snowblower on both late yesterday afternoon, so I only had a bout two additional inches to remove.

Men's short program this evening, I think.  I enjoyed the pairs skating last night.

I really don't have great expectations for our three men after watching the world's a few weeks ago.....but ONE of them may get through to medal.  I have my fingers crossed that they have clean programs tonight.

If anyone's really looking for a dance song, I ran across a demo of Skip's that had been a favorite of mine when Skip's show TIME AND AGAIN was at the O'Neill Center - so I put together a YouTube of it and just put it up Sunday night.

It was a song with people of NYC welcoming Julia (the lady from one hundred years earlier) to the 1990's.  It somehow felt appropriate for the holiday weekend (and I guess holidayweek) with lots of visitors in town - especially the first and last sections of the song.

WELCOME TO OUR WORLD - music & lyrics by Skip Kennon
Sung by Maggi-Meg Reed, joined halfway through by Maureen Silliman and Janie Smulyan

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gFBRO4uKlU

I've always liked this number, and missed it when Skip and his bookwriter Jack Viertel decided to cut it before TIME AND AGAIN had its San Diego run.

Good morning!

Cold and beautiful here. I have an invigorating walk this morning in the cold, and the sky is deep blue and cloudless night now.

I think their chances are as good as the other top contenders, but it is a deep, deep field from around the world, and six or seven different men could potentially take the gold depending on how their short programs go tonight. A slip in the short and most can probably kiss their chances to win goodbye.

BTW, DR JRand, the worlds? They haven't been held yet for 2010. Maybe you were watching the European championships. And if you watched last year's worlds, Evan Lysecek won the gold at worlds last year.

My work projects today consist of the remaining two films in the SHAW ON FILM set: CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA this afternoon and ANDROCLES AND THE LION tonight. Having seen both before (but not in a long, long time), there won't be the same thrill of discovery as I had with MAJOR BARBARA. Still I'm looking forward to the production design in Technicolor for CAESAR and the cast of ANDROCLES.

And tonight I'll be balancing LOST ("live") with the Olympics and AMERICAN IDOL's two hour Hollywood round. Oy!

We are all quite ill with colds, so of course the realtors are calling wanting to show the house.  Oy.

Wow, it's now really snowing. I don't think it's enough to stop anything in the city but it's coming down in big, fat flakes.

No, then it would have to be called the Short Men's Program.

I posted a picture of my 1993 Joseph/Dreamcoat production on Facebook and asked all the cast members (a LOT of them are on FB) to post a comment or memory.

It is great fun to read them all.  They all had a great time, and many of them say "my favorite show", etc......so I am feeling very good today.

There's a program on tonight about men's shorts and I didn't know about it?

I spent a nice portion of this morning writing up MAJOR BARBARA so I could have a headstart on the review for the SHAW ON FILM set which I hope to post tonight. I'll write up CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA later this afternoon after watching. Still, I can tell it's going to be a late night for me tonight. I'll likely not watch the men's figure skating until tomorrow.

I heard the UPS truck pull up on the side street next to my house, but the UPS man took the package to my neighbor's house. I wasn't expecting anything, so I was surprised to see the truck, but sometimes he parks there instead of in front of my neighbor's house when he has a package for him.

Looks like my dreams of a day or two off later in the week are still possible.
