Well, you've read the notes, the notes were exotic and had music, and now it is time for you to post until the exotic cows come home.

Topic of the Day:  definitely "The African Queen" for both!

If it's not to late to comment on a title for Edisaurus' doc:

I propose a combination of these two:

Quote
Making It Home (besides the baseball metaphor, the film is about Jews becoming at home in America)

"The Crack of the Bat: The Remarkable Story of Jews, America and Baseball"

Making It Home: A Story of Jews, America and Baseball

In the now notorious case of our evil neighbor whose assests were frozen and he was consequently forced to discharge his pricey attorney -  FJL posed:

Quote
If this stands up, what's to stop the government/prosecution from using this reason (that the money is needed to compensate the victims) to freeze any defendant's funds, and as a result keep that defendant from getting a vigorous defense?

Implicit in this quandry is the unfortuanate implication (arguably true) that money buys a better defense then the state provides.

(This is one case in which I doubt ABC will pay $200,000 for the photographs >:( )

I don't know what case you are talking about, but it sounds like it's civil. I don't think the state provides you a lawyer for a civil case.

JRand, I like your suggestion, LET MY PEOPLE BAT!  There's actually a moment in the film where we hear "Let my people go", in relation to the reserve clause. Of course, we already knew you were psychic!

TCB, I hope you're feeling better today.

We always keep a light or two on in the house at night so we can see where we're going. My large black love cat, Bailey, sleeps under my dresser next to the heating vent and it's easy to step on him if I'm not paying attention.

When he gets too hot, he climbs into bed between us and snuggles in under the covers. It's kind of like those bed warmer things they used to use with coals from the fireplace in a metal container on a pole. Except alive.

Good morning, all!

The neighbor was relatively quiet last night: a door slam around 11:45, some heavy walking and the bed being unfolded around midnight. I awoke at 6:30 for the McGlinnventory to find an email from our paralegal who is still sick, so I went back to bed and slept until 8:30. In another hour I will wonder down to Toyland to pick up a score for THE LADY OF THE SLIPPER and work on it the rest of the day.

Started posting this earlier and got interrupted, then interrupted again. Wonder if I can do one before we leave town. Anyway,

TOD:

Bogart:
In a Lonely Place
The Big Sleep
Casablanca
The African Queen

Hepburn:
Philadelphia Story
Desk Set (Love her singing "Night and Day" during the party scene)
Bringing Up Baby
Lion in Winter
African Queen
Love Among the Ruins
(and maybe a half dozen others)

Now it's pie for breakfast and then off to the beach.

TOD:

Bogart is my all-time favorite actor, so:

CASABLANCA
THE MALTESE FALCON
KEY LARGO
HIGH SIERRA
THE AFRICAN QUEEN
THE CAINE MUTINY
THE DESPERATE HOURS
THE ROARING TWENTIES
THE OKLAHOMA KID
ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT
DEAD RECKONING
THE BIG SLEEP
DARK PASSAGE
THE HARDER THEY FALL
SAHARA
THE ENFORCER
THE TREASURE OF SIERRA MADRE

etc., etc.

For me, Hepburn is second only to Carole Lombard:

WOMAN OF THE YEAR
ADAM'S RIB
PAT & MIKE
THE AFRICAN QUEEN
THE PHILADELPHIA STORY
GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER
THE LION IN WINTER
THE RAINMAKER
STATE OF THE UNION
ON GOLDEN POND
SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER

etc., etc.
