I know DR Elmore wasn't thrilled with all aspects of this project, yet he's mentioned in a story about the recording of "Life Begins at 8:40."

There are some interesting "omissions" in that article.

Somehow, I don't doubt that at all.

Another photo from Louisville, where everything was in bloom. This was of the front yard of neighbors down my parents' street. The camera didn't capture how almost fiery the colors were.

DR John G, I am not happy that I name keeps turning up with this turkey. I think everyone currently on board feels the need to mention me as a favor to me, but I'd have preferred being unmentioned since I suspect what I hear will neither amuse me no make me very happy. When this recording of LIFE BEGINS . . . comes out, I have the feeling I will be spilling all I know and hate about what was dome to me, my team, and the score. I see the current Amazon.com listing omits the cut song "I Knew Him When." I wonder how the Gershwins let that happen?

I shall shortly be on my way to the breakfast thing, after which I shall return and then prepare for the afternoon meeting thing, after which I shall pick up the packages thing.

I love the derby parties, but with rain forecast for the race, that's one I prefer to watch on TV.

I'm guessing DR JMK doesn't call it "popcorn".

Just got the new "West Side Story" from the library. Why do revival casts always have to sound slower than the original? I only got through the "Jet Song," but I feel as if every singer were more concerned with his diction than pace or in keeping it lively.

I felt the same way about that JAY complete Sweet Charity.  Some wag on RATM averred that all tempi on LP's were too fast as they needed to cram stuff in to the playing time on each side.

Well... There is a common thread between the West Side Story revival OCR and the A Chorus Line revival OCR.  -And both recordings were recorded while both shows were still essentially in previews.  Both shows were/are now faster.  Alas, neither revival ended up "correct" - and I played for ACL.

Back from breakfast - the company was lovely, but the food was terrible.  Hard to muck up breakfast but this was just bad in every way.  And the jernt is loved and adored and was jammed - go know.

Now I don't really have much to do until the three o'clock meeting, other than a couple of errands and whatnot.  I did have the motor car washed.

Break a leg vibes for George and Company and for MattH and Company.

I'm sure you meant DR Matthew and Company. I'm not currently in a show.

I watched last night's THE MENTALIST while I ate lunch. It was a wonderful episode, filled with all the kinds of Patrick Jane quirks that I like without him crossing the line into obnoxiousness. Malcolm McDowall was creepy and good as Jane's adversary. Made it sound like he was either going to turn out to be Red John or be connected with him in some way.

I really think this is one of the best episodes they've done this year.

DR George, glad to hear your preview was great.  Our performance of Rent went well on stage after 3 days off.  We. of course, lost about 12 people at the intermission, but I'm reminded that people walked out daily during its run in NYC.

Good news from Matthew & George :)

Then I watched today's work project DVD: SING A SONG OF SEX. Oh, my, I'm beginning to catch on that Oshima's oeuvre is not my cup of tea. This is another movie I found rather trying to sit through. I got his satiric indictment of 1967 teen youth being consumed by thoughts of sex rather than joining in on the social protests and involvement in world affairs, but it's really heavy handed with all of the psychosexual focus that would come to fruition with IN THE REALM OF THE SENSES.

These four teen boys have this sex song that has at least ten verses, and they sing it over and over throughout the movie in their flat, unlyrical singing voices. It REALLY got to be tedious.

And the transfer once again is not all that pleasant to look at.

I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest, of course, but Luke, Reid, and Noah were featured in the previews for next week since it deals with Noah's surgery and the aftermath. Very dramatic. Hopefully, they'll be on more than once next week with this story.

I still had the GLEE DVD set out, so I put in the disc that had "Sectionals" on it which always is SUCH an upbeat, bracing episode. I needed something fun and tuneful and colorful after that awful work DVD I watched this afternoon.

When I reviewed this set in late December, I did watch all of the bonus features for the review, but I wanted to rewatch some of them with the producers and FOX network executives talking about the genesis of the show. Really enjoyed seeing two of those bonus features again, neither of which were nearly long enough to satisfy one's curiosity about the pitch for the show, the casting, and its pickup by the network.

BTW, did you know that GLEE is now the highest rated scripted series for the age 18-49 group?
